SCRATCH! They're awesome in the park, the flex of them is perfect(in my opinion).

I actually like the scratch FS, but you're a lot smaller so you could definitely go with the scratch. Everything rossi makes is top notch.

Scratch. Ligher. Easier to butter in park, more flexy, yet still kills it in the blower...
not the mention the fact that 1080's havent changed a bit since 2002 or so, when Addidas bought them out.
Rossi has put lots of R&D into the Scratch line (Candide and Rory Bushfield helped tremendously)
Candide used to be at Salomon. Why change? Cuz salomon is gay thats why.

Actually, I am not a salomon hater whatsoever. I had some 1080's back when. and Ill still say that they are a killer ski, but the foils are EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE 1080. they just renamed it and put on some new graphics. and there is NO way that the 1080 foils or w/e are easier to butter than the scratches.. no way. I have used both of these skis, they both own, but the scratches are better in my opinion.
I dont hate Salomon, I just dislike how Addidas ruined them... it sucks to tell you the truth, especially being how great salomon was doing back 2-4 years ago.

Yeah the foil is a different ski, and it skis alot different. The Thruster is the same as the old 1080 without the meteltext top making it a little lighter than it all ready was. And by the way Adidas sold Salomon early this year.. Salmon Group is now owned by Ammer Group(sp)
With your weight I would go with the thruster, but new rossi is not a bad ski

okay I musta mixed them up. The foil is the same thing as the old pocket rockets then. or one of thier other ski models that they have had for 3 or 4 years now... I dont know... I cant tell which is which anymore ever since they changed the names, which was another gay move because they all look so similar. (I personally loved the look of the old pocket rockets)
and the '05 rossi scratch is no stiffer than the '04... Dont belive what rumors say... they arent true. Its pretty much the exact same ski with new graphics. If you havent skied on both skis in the same day, you wouldnt be able to tell. I seriousy preformed this test at Mountain High in So. Cal last week. My friend just bought a pair of new Scratch FS's, and I still have my 04's... we mishmashed the skis, so we had one of each, we couldnt tell which one was any better than the last. Nevertheless, they are still less stiff than the 1080's in my opinion.. From personal experience...
My advice would be to get the 2004 Scratch FS's (the maroon and blue ones) because they are effing sick and an awesome ski. I personally think they look better than the 05 Scratch line.

Well fuck.. I dont know... We are talking about the 1080 vs. the Scratch FS anyway.. jeez.
Either way, Salomon has gone downhill in the past few years because they HAVENT come out with anything new, due to the fact they were owned by Addidas. Shit, their boots used to be the absolute tightest shit, now they absolutly suck, because its old technology. The Lining is weak and becomes worn down too easily, and the buckles are pretty shitty and fall apart. I bought Nordica Beasts and theyre freaking Gnar to the maximum. waaay better than the Salomon boots. Even the "new" salomon boots are not really that new as far as technology. They have the same lining as the old ones and they have a toebox that continues to cause mucho toebang.
and obviously the Scratch FS is NOT a brand new ski if there was a 2004 model... It may be relatively new, but it was also based off the older models of the just plain SCRATCH line. Which was relatively similar when it came to core and edge ratio. Either way, I would rather have a brand new ski than the 1080, being that the 1080 is OLD technology. Sure it has proven itself, but it still cant hold up to how smooth the Rossi Scratch FS's are. Dont care what the dementions are.
Also, its a fact of preference, If you prefer the 1080 > The Scratch, more power to you. Im just giving my 2 cents worth based on my experience with both skis. Thank you.

By the way, the dementions of the ski differ on the length of the ski. go look at the actual skis side by side. the 174's are exactly the same dementions as the ones from last year.

I dont know about that... My 1080's never chattered too much... No more than my scratches.
Ill say this much, both skis are killer, but The scratch dominates.
