steamboat is very good, the park is pretty cool, and if it gets new snow then its like the best place ever, if you know where to go you can find some sweet cliffs and stuff.
I was there last year and am going back this year. Its really nice. Definately lacking in top notch terrain compared to some of the tahoe places or liek whistler, but the atmosphere is way better. You never wait more than a couple minutes in the lift lines, and i go over presidents week. the town is a really cool western town. And the locals are the most laid back nicest people i think ive ever met in my life.
i went last year during christmas and it was great (except i got sick).
the park is indeed lacking, but theres still some cool rails. when i was there they didnt have any jumps open till the last day i was there.
overall a very laid back and relaxed place. definitely recommended.
they did have a pretty nice like 50 ft table and some other like 20-40 ft tables too. and yeah the rails are actually really cool. and if you hike up to the east face and search around a little you will find some sweet stuff.
i am so stoked for steamboat going march 19th and skiing mon-fri, how long is the hike to the east face, i cant wait to drop some cliffs, first time out west, might hire a guide cuz my dad wont be willing to hit cliffs and to hike terrain, but itll be sweet, any advice or info or great trails i need to ski wud be greatly appreciated
haha, cliffs and terrain... apparently you easterners get to steamboat and are so comfortable with its familiarly EC style terrain that you just dont even bother looking anywhere else. if it werent for new york that place would be a ghost town.
hike to east face is about 4-5 mins. you honestly dont need a guide, just get up there and dick around. there are cliffs around the mountain, just look and you'll find some.
ok so yeah... its been super warm out here latley.. but the seasons been killer overall. Our park is looking pretty sweet right now (alot my vids are from steamboat the sw stuff are the latest jumps they have up, way fun!)
But yeah if you hit up morning side lift then hike up towards the huge tower, that looks like it has the biggest drum you've ever seen thats where east face, christmas tree, way right, and all of the fun stuff is. Also the canyons, and golf course are super fun... but you'd need someone that knows it to go there. Hit me up if your gonna be out here and wanna ski
