Is there a way to protect my new 04/05 PE's top sheet before use

Hi everyone!
I just purchased brand new 04/05 PE's for $200 and just want to know if I can do anything to protect the top sheets from chipping (as I hear that will happen sooner or later).
If possible I want to protect the top sheets before I use them for the first time.
Thanks for all your help.

man dont worry about the tops they will chip a bit but so will any ski you buy, just ride them and have fun , plus its the base that really counts.

Oh yeah and another thing I find interesting is:
If I compare the recommended mounting point between my PE's and my Foil's, on the PE's it is SO WAY back!
I know that as a fact from other threads that K2 puts the point a lot more back than others, but still.
I have my PE's mounted with adjustable bindings so I can move the point from +3 to +7.5 and even if I move them to +7.5 (which is marked as core center) the tail is a lot shorter than the tip and it almost compares to the recomm. point on the Foils?!

exactly why i was so confused when i got my foils, They i swore the mounting point was messed up on them, cuz like u said. im + 3 on my PE's and its still way far back compared to the foils reccomended...
But dont worry about the top sheet, 99% of the time its gunna be cosmetic, and it wont even matter

there is one thing you can do. Try filing the edge of the top sheet so that it rounds into the sidewall. I heard this helps prevent some damage on the sides.

to prevent the topsheets from chipping BEFORE USE??!?!?!?
what will you be doing with them BEFORE YOU USE THEM?
how about just placing them delicately under your bed or something

1) File the edges of the topsheet at a 45 degrees.
2) Generously apply womans nail hardner on the filed area.
3) Blowdry the harder dry.
4) Repeat this whenever the edges start chipping.

Seriously...you buy the skis to use them, not stare at them. A few war wounds on them are things to be proud of.

just wait till they start chipping and cut off the excess with a razor blade. i wouldn't even go thru that much trouble.
