Questions About My New Bass. (Galveston EB5)

yo.

i just purchased a brand spanking new bass on ebay, and i am very excited. I plan on teaching myself for a bit to learn the basics, and i am going to ask my parents to sign me up for lessons for christmas.

Question 1 - The brand of the bass is Galveston. I have not heard of this brand. But, on the auction the bass looked very nice, and the list of features looked pretty solid. Does anyone know of Galveston? The only review I could find on them gave it a 4/5 stars or something, and said it was a good bass. Just wondering if anyone knows anything about them?


Question 2 - The bass I bought is a 5 string bass (As opposed to a 4 string, the more commom bass). Does anyone know if this is any harder to learn/play than a 4 string? I had a 4 string Ibanez a long time ago, but i didnt play it too much. I called the music store and asked them; the dude said that it shouldnt really be any harder than a 4, it just has a wider fretboard and the lower string. What do YOU think?

As far as the 5 vs 4 strings go, I doubt it should be a big difference. It will just allow you to play a larger range of notes than a 4 string. The fifth string may be a bit more difficult to fret and reach at first but you'll get used to it as you gain finger strength and dexterity.(I actually dont play bass but I do play guitar and have played around with 7 string guitars so i assume it's a similar situation.

i have been playiong bass for a veryyy long time and i actually just picked up an ibanez 6 string fuckin sick... u may find the 5 string a bit diff at first but fuckin props for that its gonna be so sick once u atcually start playin shit.. i usggest u find some people to jam with to athat wlawyas helps.. pm me if uhave any questions

yeah, i will have people to jam with. one of my friends is incredible at guitar, another friend is starting to play guitar, my brother might start playing guitar as well, another friend plays drums, and anotehr is starting to play drums.

i play bass...

i have a squire P-bass

and i have a custom one, fender jazz bass body, fender p bass neck and custom BASSLINES pickups.

they are both 4 strings, so i cant help you there, i can tell you though that bass is super fun, and not too hard of a learning curve.

Gibsons are indeed nice, but my budget was under $200.00 (because I had to pay for all of it). So I found this one for $170, looking foward to the day it comes in the mail.
