i think i am going to tune my own skis from now on, so i have a lot of questions to ask . so can some of you provide me with some tips or refer me to a nice reliable site for doing such things?
so far i have gotten a 88 degree ice buster, a horse hair brush, pink wax, and a scraper. i have watched this kuu video about tuning with rob budler in it when he was like 30 years old, so it's an older vid.
well anyway i started sharpening the edges, but i can't seem to get it all shiny. it has like scratch marks on it but it's still smooth to the touch and the edges felt pretty sharp. is there anyway to get it all shiny(ie using a gummy stone?) and any test to know you got the edges all sharp and ready for ice?
tips on waxing would be appriciated as well. i haven't gotten an iron yet, is it really necessary to get an iron that is non-steam? since those are rare to find these days...and i don't want to spend like $40 for an iron that i am going to melt wax with. thanks
