Will switch landings ever look good into powder?

I was watching peps part in war with my snowboard buddy and this question came up. i have to agree with him though. peps switch landings are way tech but when he lands he puts his hands down and justs looks out of control. the same applies to other skiers. will switch into pow ever look clean?

in the 12 years i have been skiing i only hit real powder like 1 time and that was when i was like 7 sooo i really cant see how you could land switch smoothly let alone regular

switch landings where they put their hands down looks just like some of the higher impact normal landings. for some good landings, watch anything with pollard or andy, or shanghai six from beginning to end

pollard lands them clean with his lizabeths too which is a 110 underfoot, but that's what those skis are made for riding switch in pow

hey, retard, names ARE words. words are simply a combination of sounds that communicate a meaning.
there's this guy, maybe you've heard of him- Eric Pollard. he's basically the smoothest bc skier around and his switch landings are pretty much as smooth as his forward landings.
and to whoever it was that said that if our knees bent the other way, landing switch would be more "efficient"- landing switch is easier on your knees. it's evident that you land switch a lot.

Shit, I'll give people props just to ride away from them. That's like a snowboarder trying to land back edge off a jump in the park.

If your face hits the snow, the landing isn't clean.

i also think that we need to see the switch pow stomp in untouched snow... tracked out just don't cut it for films. we have such a high standard, but it will happen... this year i bet.

yeah, that cliff in the pic is big and the air is clean as hell, but the landing... ahh it will get better.

its harder then boarding though cuz with boards you land the same style either way, with skiing when you land switch your body just cant bend the right way to absorb the impact

am i the only one who watched peps last trick in war
he stomped the fuck out of that 180 not even close to being sketch or looking ugly
i must say for myself that riding switch in pow is 10x more fun that riding regular

yeah, just wait and see what we will do this winter. we have found some cliffs we will film at when its enough snow. then he will get the landings. the reason he didn't land that well was because he landed in the crater of another guy.

if seth morrison can butt check on every single cliff he drops and have the shit still look cool, i'd have to say that landing switch and doing a minor hand check still looks really cool

butt checks are a necessary evil on cliffs over 70ish feet, if you try to stomp them you will eat your knee or just start front flipping when you land, depending on your forward momentum or lack there of.

just as soon as the landings start getting steeper...
that and our knees start bending the other direction...

It's the best feeling droping 1's off cornices or cliffs. So cool I think. There is no reason why skiers shouldn't do it. I think skis need to get bigger still, and everyone can get in on it.

i think someone mentioned something about this further up...the reason switch landings look sketch is because of the way our bodies are built. think about landing forward in pow; you land a little leaned back, as to not dive your tips in the snow. you bend your knees and sit back a little bit. now imagine landing switch in pow. you have to do the same thing in order to keep your tails above the snow, only this time, when you lean back, your knees and legs don't bend the same way. your body compensates by bending forward to keep you afloat. there's no way to stomp switch super clean like you can when skiing forward. don't misunderstand, i have the utmost respect for the pros who are pushing the envelope with switch landings in the bc arena. it's not a matter of skill, it's a matter of physics.

^ Not to mention our gear is meant to go the other way. Take a good hard look at your ski boots man, they are designed for you to ride knees bent going forward and keeping pressure on the front of your boots.
