I was watching peps part in war with my snowboard buddy and this question came up. i have to agree with him though. peps switch landings are way tech but when he lands he puts his hands down and justs looks out of control. the same applies to other skiers. will switch into pow ever look clean?
You can't hate on switch pow landings unless you've truly busted some and then you'll feel exactly what they're all about, they feel sooo sweet. They only look good on centered Prophet 130's though, which is what I've done mine on and they're sweet. Look at Pollards Hit List segmant with super fat skis switch anything is a cinch.
hmm, well then you must not believe in progression in the sport. its all about pushing you self to the limit, and trying things that never been done before. ya people ski pow everday, so why not throw a little twist into it. its all about progression man.
^^ i think u mean pyramids...landing sw/ over chads hasent exactly happend yet. but yea i did a 180 over a 35 ft cliff and it felt amazing just go n try ull fall in love!
"Switch landings are for park, not pow"
"Why would anyone want to land switch in pow"
You guys are amazing, do you ski much? Progressing park into the bc is #1 goal of many, switch anything is incredibly fun.
Dragging your hands or hitting your head on your knees and knocking a tooth out means that shit is intense and even more fun. Switch pow landings are one of my favorite things regarding progression and skiing. Riding away at all in more that 8 inches is a great feeling that makes you smile real big.
Pollard on his prophets can stomp zero's on untracked pow. I think that tail height is going to be crazy high on some newer skis so you don't have go land completely on the tips.
not for me, it's all about fun for me. and landing backwards in pow doesn't get me off. It just feels goofy and looks goofy, I'd much rather splash forward and get a facial. If your knees happened to bend the opposite direction I would see how that is more efficient.
ice is scary likes facials, I thought you were different. Your progression and post count are both negative.
I like giving facials, both ways (the obvious one) and with the high tails of my skis to those who choose to ski behind me.
Yes...Eric Pollard lands very clean in powder for how little it has been around...same with Vanular in Sh6 some of those switch 7's he stomps like he would in a park.
It's happened already. Pep stomps the shit out of that one 180 off the cliff near the end. And he had some sick stuff in 1242. Cleaner landings will come with more experience and more time.
well i cant ski powder bc i live only 45 min from NYC, and i always get gypped(sp?)
ex. i went to utah last year and my parents wanted to stay in park city, and there was no new snow all week, during a great season there. i went to canyons and i hiked 2 times for waist deep powder, but they were only 300 ft. long
and then, the day i had to leave, it snowed
i cant drive yet, and my stupid parents wont drive on the day of the storm because it is too dangerous, and they wnat grooming
