WHY do people WRECK jumps?!?!?!?

Alright so i was at sunshine yesterday, and i built a really kickass jump... you kind of came down out of a steep chute (more of a funnel actually) than over a cattrack/traverse track which had about a 25-30 foot gap before a nice powder landing. It kicked you super high I was really looking forward to learning some tricks and shit on it. I only got to hit it twice.
The first time i hit it,i went back to the lift to give it some time to let it set. When i got back i hit it once more. I picked up a shitload of speed (i actually made the landing) so it was to far to hike so i just went back to the lift. When i got back it was completely trashed.
Whoever did this must be mega-blowhards. The only people i think are justifyed for doing this are ski patrol, however i don't think it was them since i have NEVER seen a patroller on that part of the hill, and i ski there alot. Why would someone wreck my jump? I suppose it's partly my fault for building in bounds, but it was to good of a spot to pass up.
Why do people wreck jumps?

It was by far the best jump i've ever built, and i've never hit a jump with more kick. I have absolutely no comprehension as to why someone would do it. What could be the motive.

i know that we all thing that it was a shitty thing to o, but im sure that they had a reason. it is probably because it crossed the cat track, if you hit a person traversing, you and the mountain are screwed.

i guarantee that was it. i have it when random people try to be super patrollers. i was hitting a rail in the town i live in, and some redneck guy who probably beats off to nascar crashes called the cops on us. the fucker didnt even live near there, but decided to ruin some kids snowday

As much as i'd agree with you, i know that's not the reason. The runin has very clear vision of the cat track, and you can see far up the cat track to since you don't start at the very top of the chute, and even if you did you'd still only have 1 blind spot.

thats why whenever i build something..it is either 1. hidden...or 2. i hike it everytime and if kids come i know are going to smash ti i tell em to beat it

you know why they distroy your jump? Because they aren't good enough to hit it and are jealous that they cant make something that beautifil themselves

^thats true, but when i was skiing at las lenas, where there were no trees what so ever, and the trail we were skiing across to jib the avalanche blockers could see most of the mountian, the patrol still asked us to stop because of the POSSIBILITY of collision

I'd say it was most likely the ski patrol. No one else would do that.

if it was inbounds it was the ski patrol that trashed it because it is a hazard and an enormous laibility

Are you talking about when you go down Standish headwall, cross the gully, and then air up through the trees to the top of Strawberry?

our hill is full of super patrols and little kids who wreck jumps we had a nice jump off to the side in the pow
and like 6 ski patrol skied by and said stuff like nice jump and didnt care...well then some old ski pe said that someone could get hurt and started to stomp on our jump and said that is what terrain parks are made for....and one time we had a group of old guys wreck our jump but they sprayed us when coming to stop....we were pissed but then i skied in front of them and it was a slushy day and the snow on the back of the skis started to hit the guys in the face...we were laughing so hard one guy fell

i dont think it was ski patrol, probably some dumb fuck who couldnt hit it cuz he was scared or some shit. the ski patrollers are really chill ar sunshine so, well...it depends on the patroller so i revoke my previous statement. where on sunshine did you do this? WaWa? Standish? or did you do it where i think you did, last year there was a cat track down a hill and a huge fucking booter was there gapping it. its impossible to hit there cuz its about 40 meters of flat before it. where?

some day you will learn that when your on someone elses property (i.e ski resort) it helps to ask first and find out what their policy is...if your gonna put any real effort into building a jump (beyond just kicking some snow around) you should know what the mnt attitude is...

If you are talking about sunshine near lake louise canada, i know exactly what your taklign about. I was up there last yaer over thanksgiving break and we found some of the rails for the park that hadnt been set up yet. We set up a rail and a box on the downhill side of a supply hut way out of the way of any potential skiers and clearly off trail. I took a few hits on the rail and skied down. When i got back ski patrol had stomped the living hell out of the jump and the rail was gone. It was the most thorough jump stomping i could imagine
