RAILS TO RICHES JAM TO FEATURE TOP RIDERS IN THE EAST AND $15,000 TOTAL PRIZE PURSE
Skiers and Snowboarders to participate in first ever Rails to Riches Jam at Killington Resort
Killington, Vt. (November 17, 2005) – Killington Resort is set to host the first ever Rails to Riches Rail Jam featuring a $15,000 cash prize purse in conjunction with the K05 Summit December 3-4. Skiers and riders are invited to participate in the open jam format to be held on Saturday December 3, 2005.
The qualifiers will consist of 25 skiers and 25 riders. The top 10 male skiers and top 10 male riders, along with the top five female skiers and top five female riders will advance to the finals. The qualifiers will feature riders in the morning and skiers in the afternoon. The venue will be set up on the lower potion of Highline, an easy walk for competitors and spectators from the K-1 Lodge.
“The open jam style competition combined with a large cash prize is sure to draw the attention of some of the best skiers and riders in the East,” said Josh Arneson, events manager for Killington Resort “A competition that features an open format proves to be as exciting for spectators as it is for people competing. It’s spontaneous and fun.”
The excitement will undoubtedly peak during the finals of the competition that will take place under the lights and consist of an hour-long open jam session while a bonfire burns nearby. Winners will be crowned at the conclusion of the rail jam followed by a fireworks display set to light up the December sky over Killington Resort. The finals will begin at 5:00 p.m. with fireworks slated to start at 6:15 p.m.
Registration will begin on Monday, November 21st at noon and will be accessible online from
www.Killington.com. Registration will be $50 for men and $20 for women. The top prize for both male categories is $4000, with $1000 going to each of the first place women skiers and riders. Athletes can gain free entry to the Rails to Riches Jam at the Loaded Turkey 3 ½ Rail Jam, on Sunday November 20th. This event is split up into two age groups and it will be at the discretion of the athletes to decide which victor will compete at no cost at the Rails to Riches Rail Jam.
The Rails to Riches Jam will be one of many events in Killington Resort’s K05 Summit, to be held the weekend of December 3-4. Other events include a large demo tent village; Party at the Peak featuring a free screening of “The Community Project,” prize giveaways and an outdoor BBQ; and special rates on group ski and ride lessons.
