i'm doing a marketing paper on how oakley uses sponsored athletes to promote their product. does anyone here have any contacts i should talk to at oakley? i sent emails to the address they give on their site, but got nothing. this thing's due at the end of the semester, so time's running out for me.

the sponsorship idea is pretty simple: sponsor high level athletes that make kids want to look and be like them. WHen you think about it, sponsorship is such a good deal for both parties: the rider gets free gear of some type for being good at what he or she loves, and the sponsor gets the public buying their product. And they really only need to sell one jacket for every jacket they give out to sponsors to break even. It is no wonder every sport features sponsorships. In merchandise it is called advertising :)

i'm in college, everything you just said is obvious. i appreciate you trying to help, but i am looking for legit sources, not just what someone says on this site. its a research paper, therefore i need documented sources, like promotional material from oakley. anyone know how i can get a hold of someone at oakley that could help me out? any skiers on this site have some form of sponsorship with oakley and willing to shed some light on the details of the sponsorship? thats the kind of info i could use.

the people to talk to are Greg Strokes and Steve Blick. If you live in Canada you should talk to Philou Poirer. Those guys do all the marketing stuff.

i dont work at oakley, but they advertise with my company. your best bet is to find a phone number (try websites, yellow pages, information, etc...) and get a number to their corporate office. call up and ask to speak to an assistant, explain yourself, and somebody should be able to help you out. that kind of stuff happens all the time (college kids asking for media kits etc..)

I'd also try talking to your local Oakley rep, he might be able to forward your message to higher powers. hahah
