Replying to Anyone Break a Femur

I broke my femur on the 2nd in a motocross accident. So they put a ti rod the length of my femur in the bone, and it's there for life. They also gave me some badass pills. Have any of you guys broken a femur? I'm asking because I hear in winter when it is cold out it will affect your leg, make it sore and what not. I plan on skiing again in jan. I think I should be about 90% by then. If you got any good info it is appreciated.
