so i go to my local shop to pick up some ptex and the guy is like try this its called layfix. its less waxy then ptex and holds better. does anyone kno of this stuff?
its good it'll take a rigid shape and cut out better for patches, doesn't hold wax as well as ptex but that doesn't really matter since ptex patches don't hold wax to well anyway. If you have a core shot or one up against an edge consider jb weld, they use it to seal engine blocks on bouldozers.
ptex
laynex
jb weld all good.
I only substitute jb for epoxy and put ptex over the top, only bare jb on my ski is up against the edge where epoxy and ptex keep falling off. Always try to get ptex on the bottom layer of any repair.
in freeskier they say to get P-tex candles form a hardwear store. i've used JB weld and some epoxy from Wal-Mart. the epoxy setteled really nice and even. i was stoked.
