Painting Skis

well my brother has a pair of skis he wants painted...he has some pe's and scratches both old modles like 2 years ago and i know the pe's have the gloss over them so how far should i sand it down to? and same with the scracths? would they need sanding as well? or what should i sand to the wood? and then applie paint how many coats should be suitable? thanks

Don't sand the whole topsheet off. Just rough it up so it isn't glossy.

hmm that should work...just so its not smoth and scrapes off...i'll give that a try

600 grit sandpaper

Use a belt sander and sand them until the laminate is gone. Make sure you don't go through any of the core layers, though. then make sure you use latex paint so they won't chip when they flex.
