i don't remember the thread but someone was asking about this camera that had a like helmet cam, and everyone was saying how it was bad, but then someone suggested a website that had helmet cams that looked really good. i know that doesn't help, but if u can somehow search and find the thread on the camera someone gave a link.
I'm sure you could rig your own really cheap. Some video cameras have an external camera option where you would have your minidv cam in your pocket with jsut a small camera you could strap to your hemet, bike, car, whatever. Just a thought...
the samsung is the one that prettymuch sucks... poor battery life and minimal memory (its all harddrive).
search for "viosport"... i have one on order. they are very similar to the bullet cams. i don't have it yet, but it came highly reccomended by my base-jumping friend.
downside is you will also need a miniDV style cam with inputs like someone else said
my freinda few years ago got one of those mini cameras from like walmart or target for 100$ we have better regular cameras now we just rigged it up to a helmet that fits all of us and we will trade the helmet
when you buy just the helmet cam without a video camera, when you record something do you have to hit record on the actual video camera or is there something on the helmet cam
if by lense you mean the little thing on the helmet then yes, just that, but of course plus a mounting system and the necessary wires to run to a camera which i have and it would be nice to have a button on it to start and stop recording
if you can think outside the box, you can get some gnarly shots with a helmet cam without doing anything too extreme. there were some sick "helmet" cams mounted on a ski just doing 180s, 3s, and 5s in some videos a few years ago.
i've got the samsung one... got it as a grad present. the helmet cam is alright, but like everyone says, the battery life does suck (only for the helmet cam itself... the camera has good battery life though) it is only 512 internal memory which amounts to about 15 minutes of footage on the highest setting but it does have a MemoryStick slot, so you can buy up to 2 GB of extra memory. its a decent camera, real small, and decent price. unless you really do a lot of helmet camera shit or plan on filming a short video/dvd, the samsung is a decent option.
