i am not sure if he is serious, but poles should reach your hands when your elbow is 90° arched. but add a little length because normally you dont wear boots and skis when youre buying (or cutting in your case) poles.
ahahahahahah that would be hilarious to see, and i loved how you asked, "should i cut them?". holy crap... but mine are up to my hands when my elbows are at 90 degrees. idk how tall that is.
if u are holding your poles...just stading there wen ur arm comes down it should go straight down and to a 90 degree angle into ur for arm (at ur elbow)...then that should be perfect
About 165cm....I'm just thinking of some cross country poles in a 155 I've held and made jokes about using them in the park. 165 is huge...that is if you're serious.
if you havent tried short poles you should its alot better, i use 42's all the time and i also have like 37's or something and when your just doing park stuff its alot easier to have short poles cause they arent getting in the way and shit. and then when your just skiing and you dont want to poleplant then you can still kinda let your arms hang and they dont drag.
ya, short poles are the way to go. i ride my poles really short, like 15 cm too short. and dont let ski shops cut your poles because for like $15 you can buy your own pole cutter and then cut them for free for life. but ride whatever you like
i just used like a bar cutter to cut mine. its like a clamp with a razor on one side so then u rotate the clamp around and keep tightening it at the same time and eventually it cuts all the way around
mine got to leik bellow my waist, but i ride mismatched poles sometimes so it varies...then i break them and forget how high they were so then it changes too....but ghetto short is the way to go
Hold your pole under the basket (upside down) and put them on the ground. Your elbow should be at a 90 degree angle. If you race you want longer poles, but i would rather go shorter than longer for freeride.
