As I said earlier Im probably getting salomon 1080s or Line 1260s. Right now im looking for bindings. Ive found a pair of LOOK P8.0's for a really good price but i need some advice. Theres always the option of salomon Ti's but i need something cheap and as i said the Looks look good.(no punn intented) thanx

Unless you're a little kid or something, you might want a binding with a higher din setting, like the p10 or p12

most people do not need a setting up to 12 unless you ski with your din at 9 or higher, in which case you would have to be about 180 lbs and a type three skier that skis fast and goes big. Check this chart out, some of you that set your dins higher than they need to be might want to consider what concequences may occur, i've seen way too many accidents because people thought they were so good they don't need to worry about din setting. Watch the X-games, their skis come off all the time, it's not necessarily a bad thing to have that happen. Again, take a look at this page http://www.terrymorse.com/ski/din.html

As long as you dont take it too far its okay. For example, im 5'11' 150lbs and the shop sets mine at 8, but i have to crank them up to 9 to prevent any unwanted release and it still releases when i need them too.

valid point jibmaster, don't take it too far. But even one din setting can ruine things...I'm 180 and according to the chart I should set them at 8.5. If I am skiing some steeps or heavy heavy snow I will go up to 9....

Oh, something I thought of is that this years 1080 will need a wider than standard break. Keep that in mind when buying bindings if you're getting this year's ski. It IS possible to bend the brakes, I've discussed this matter with some reps before and we've all agreed that it can work...

According to the chart I am supposed to be at 8. I set mine at 12, and they do me perfectly.
I am riding axial 140's and they rock. The look pivot binder is identical, and a very good binding.

Have you ever tried riding them at say....9 or 10?? I'd be curious to know if you have 'ejection' problems at that setting. I couldn't possibly see how you would ever have that sort of problem unless you go HUGE often or perhaps have shot springs in your bindings. With a tention setting that high, you might want to ensure you tune your bindings down when not on the hill for a week or more at a time. Not trying to agitate you, just wouldn't want anyone to get hurt.

For insurance purposes, no shop will set them higher than a din of 8.0. And yes, you may need to go higher than a 10 if you are going huge or fast. If you ride salomon, you will need to crank them up because they pre-release a lot.

Yes, I am a tech, so I know how to set bindings. If I ride them lower I will pre-eject. The bindings are fairly new, so it is not an equiptment problem, I am just a big guy. If I was riding a binding other than the aial/pivot style, my din would have to be higher, because that binding offers the most ammount of elasticity on the market today.

I have last years 1080's with s810's and had mine set at 5, I'm 5'6' and 145 pounds, the people at the shop set them there and ive taken em upa little. but when they were set at 5 they released like crazy, almost all were unwanted.. i wasnt really going big either.
