It's pretty obvious why, if you read the question. If a bus is running, he'll be able to go up with other people, hence having people to ski with.

thanks everyone. but for the record, this thread isnt for me, its for a friend who lives in VA who wants to get to the mountain a lot this year. and i know the mountain sucks, but hey, i live 5 minutes from it, and its all we got.
