You should definitely do it. The VT open is so much fun and you dont have to qualify. 5 days of skiing a stratton on the US snowboarding open setup is worth the $150 to register.
if your doing the main group and not the juniors group then you should sign up before the event, last year if you did that you didn't have to qualify for the finals.
a certain number of athletes pre qualify for finals. in order to pre quilify, you must sign up early and a committe decides who pre qualifies based on your credentials. if you don't pre qualify, then you do the first two days of qualifiers and if you place well enough will get into finals. Last year the numbers were somewhere around 20/20. The event is very laid back and one of the most progressive that i have seen. definitely worth going to check out. The course and pipe are perfect and the rail jam is one of the best around. Even if you don't make finals, its still five days of riding with some of the best talent in the east.
