One of the things that was key to me learning 3s was to pop off the front of my skis rather than off my boots. It keeps you level throughout your spin (I kepped getting corked and the proceeded to die.)
iv ebeen spinning around all summer, and i went to killy and did a lot of 3s. even like 3's off flat ground while going. so moral of story, spin around alot on your of time
ok heres what u have to do. this was my first year of freestyle and i crashed like 7 times on my threes before i got it. first get a jump about 15 ft or so with a little lip not a massive one. when u come into the jump dont spin with the jump pop up and keep ur hands out in front of u and turn your head and arms towards the way ur spinning. when coming around spot your landing and remember to keep your hands out and dont let them fall behind you. then stomp it. dont give up keep trying it till you get it. good luck
360's are all about where you are looking with your eyes and head. You can throw your arms as violently as you please, but you won't get anywhere. I like to favor the inside ski of whichever way you are spinning, and do a real small body twist/wind right before take off. Keep your knees bend, tuck your legs up, and turn your head and shoulders, just keep waiting for the landing to come around.
All it takes is practice. You'll have them down in no time.
yeah it takes a bit of time, i remember when i was learning them i always leened to far back and couldnt rotate properly, now i can just do them off the ground, and when i do jumps i dont even have to think bout them its just natural.
practice them, and remember to use your head and upper body not your arms
go off a bigger jump, and just visulize how fast you want to spin. pop really hard with your legs and just spin all steezy like haha, turn your body and spot the landing, and just stomp that shit.
lol i cant beleive there havent been any insults either... just grab ur balls and spin bud, ur gonna crash 1000 times, but the first time u stick it itll become second nature,,, just commit
hey dont worry... it took me like 2-3 seasons to land a decent 360... once you get it, the door is open to 5s and 7s... just dont give up, just picture it in head and the whole thing will get together sooner or lather...
sry just joking i just wasnt feeling like i was on newschoolers without hating post.
i had the same problems, the best advice is like everyone says, dont try too much to get them around, just relax, i know that its not easy to stay cool on a 30 ft first 360 hit, but you have to. and pop off a little off the noses, otherwise youll keep leaning back and wondering in a few weeks why your shinbones hurt.
I got it a couple times last year off small jumps, but nothing sold. Hoping to start sticking 'em this season. What size jumps do most you guys learn them on?
the size of the jump doesn't really matter, just find the jump that you are most comfortable with and just COMMIT. you don't need very much air to do it, like 4' is more than enough to get the feel of a 3. just remember to spin AFTER you leave the jump other wise you will catch an edge. oh and steep landing helps also, it hurts less when you fall.
i guess everyone else pretty much excplained that one to you. my only advise is to not wind up a lot at all for the 360. that is a pretty bad habbit. if you do wind up, it will make spinning anything over a 360 seem more difficult. so try not to wind up for the spin much.
^that is so true, on my home mountain a 40 ft is called huge, (also because theyre setup pretty bad.)
i mean if people hit chads with about 50+ mph, (tanner cleared it switch with 53 so i dont think that they go alot faster) i am not that bad because on those bad kickers you got to hit them with 45 mph to clear it (flat lip and raised table).
and yes i know how fast 45 mph are, around 80 km/h, we have a speed check and there is 80 km/h not that fast.
but what i mean is that just the size isnt saying anything about a kicker, the speed is also very important if you talk to a n00b.
When I first learned 360s a long time ago, I would spin them with some nice pencil steeze. A couple years ago, I finally stopped winding up and just floating them, and they unintentionally became corked 360s and i didnt even know it. Good times with 360s
theyre so easy and gay. i landed my first 360 on skis in two tries after learning them on skiboards at like age 12. id have to say theyre harder on skiboards.
don't whip it around just set your spin early and let it carry you through the spin. Spot early and compensate for whether you are a little forward or back, you'll get it
I always used to go off axis when I spun....When I learnt them the key for me was waiting to spin until completely off the jump...Now of course I use the kick to spin and cork it out better, but I remember those days of pencil 3's.
