What's the purpose of a boner?

Why do the look/rossi binders have the big barrel things on the heel piece? Other than that it looks cool does it serve a purpose?

since the back part of the heel is open (which allows for the pivot/axial technologies) the heel pice had to connect and hinge on the SIDE of the binding. and since the only way to do this while still providing a way to lever the heel out of the boot was to design your so called "boner". its probabbly the best technology out there on the market as far as binding release is concerned.

looks and rossi scratches are both a amazing bindings probably because they both have that good technology

its actually funny u said that becasue my buddie wanted to put a condom on my rossi bindings, and put spry foam on the inside...let it dry over night, and take the condom off in the mornig...kind of nasty really...and he is a guy
