americans are fatter than other nations because we are "victims of comfort". most americans would much rather satisfy hunger by ripping open a bag of whatever or putting a box of something in the microwave for a few minutes and then its chow time. we dont even consider the possiblility of preparing a piece of fruit or cooking a nutritious meal. we do this simply because its easier. another reason is because in our culture many people are on the go throughout most of the day. this creates the problem of not having enough time to cook something and eat it. and so we trust fast food restaurants to make food for us. we dont really care that the food they make is cheap and crappy. when your stomach feels full then it feels full and thats all we want/have time for. el fin.
does all this talk about fast food make anyone else want a big mac? i couldnt watch all of supersize me cause i got too hungry... i feel blessed to not be fat cause if i had to diet or exercise i'd be screwed
i think americans just say that they are like canadians because it sucks to be so hardly hated by everyone, and no canadians are not like americans, like you for example. Your very obviously an american, i can tell. Your an embarassement.
Yeah dude I completely agree there. Everyone should know that having +36% fatties (and remember that that definition is at like 300 pounds) and having a goverment that invades every country that's weaker than themselfs just for the oil (not to set the local dictator of the throne) and that also support 80% of the countries in the world that violates the human rights while at the same time breaking more human rights than the country that they boycot (which one could it be?) and being the country that has the highest kills-by-firearms-rating in the world by far and being a country where the general citizen think that there's polarbears roaming the streets in sweden and all the girls has mustaches in france.
oh yeah, and it's really cool not to admit this and just talk shit back to the guy/girl who stated the problem like som naive manipulating psychopath and convincing yourself that you can win the arguement by saying "huhu I don't care cuz' my countries bigger and better"
sarcasm: off
You'll always be the worst country in the world. and you're just a reeeeheheally stupid person. please respond to this, i love it when ppl embarasse themself.
no dumbass thank you for proving my point. you know everything about us our country and i would say 99.6% of americans know nothing about you. you acredit this to "americans are arrogant and stupid" when in fact, we just dont care about you, you are not a world power and we dont have time to learn the public policy of countries that just stay primarily to themselves (ie canada, sweeden etc)
I hate the way fat people act is though its not their fault. Like its not like other peoples flaws like pimples, or greasy hair or balding, something can be done to fix its called running and eating right. They get depressed they eat. When I et frustrated I go running, play b-ball and if weather permits go skiing. Thats the differnce you should eat when you're hungry, not bored.
Why all do debates have to become to racist debates?
C'on guys its like the thread is about overwieght population not who hates who and who doesn't know what.
It almost hillarious how you guys bitch.Let a debate be a debate if everyyone respects each other.
Ok first off you spelled "Sweden" wrong. I think America's ignorance toward other countries stems in our lack of knowledge of other cultures. If you don't know anything about it, it can't be important, right? Basically people just can't deal with what they don't understand, and that's why I'm sure you've never been to europe. The U.S. in general just doesn't care about anything outside of the borders, as proven by a genocide that went on for 100 days in Rwanda without our country doing as much as lifting a finger about it. In fact, we evacuated immediately. But back to my point, you should research something before you pass judgement on it, it'll make you look like a more educated person when you can back up opinions with facts.
good point, really relevant, you really are just so ignorant, its pathetic. i guess youve never seen cops, its this show it airs every weeek, about americans.
or how about that lady screaming about illegal photography? but you see those kids are americans though. so there are many different types of people just like how there are many different types of canadians. some white trash. some just white.
why do you have to make this into canada vs states. Were obviously different. And I try not to stero type Americans cuz im sure lots are cool, but you're fitting the the arrogant asshole image very well.
Im trying very hard to think that its just a sterotype but when an asshole says that it pisses me off. Like you dont own the world, Canada has so many differnce, just you're too un-educated to know it. And when we try to be different for example not going in the Iraq war we get treated like shit.
Just because you're in a more populated country, that makes a large part of the worlds decisions doesnt mean you're are better.
I like most Americans, but try and open your mind. Think of how your comment is viewed by other countries, and how it relects your country.
alot of the reason is that in america so many people have desk jobs whereas in other countries many or the majority of folks have to do manual labor as work or just to have enough food to survive
their physical work is a nessecity and with pysical work compirmised they too would become fat because they would continue to eat a large amount of food
You're right. I can't sleep at night knowing that 'the world' hates me because of what country I was born in.
Canadians are nothing like Americans. You're right on that too. Let's join together and hate America. But let's try to forget for a moment that 80% of Candians live within 124 miles of the U.S. border (that's 200 kilometers). Also, let's ignore that Canada closely resembles the US in its market-oriented economic system.
While we're at it, we probably shouldn't mention that Canada's principal trading partner is the USA which absorbs more than 85% of Canadian exports, representing roughly 33% of Canadian gross domestic product and supporting more than 2 million Canadian jobs.
Or that the United States is one of the key forces that perpetuate almost all of Canada's other industries.
But what do I know? According to your logic, me being American makes me ignorant. So I've decided to head down to Mcdonald's with my imbredded family and go shoot some deer afterwards.
im sorry ghostdragon i dont have any statistics to throw at you i am just speaking from experience. It is a fact that the US is important economically to canada, however this has more to do with ideals and behaviour. From what i have experienced, and i guess from what the whole world also has experienced American people simply just seem to think they are superior to the rest of the world, not all americans obviously nonetheless a suprising amount still. I dont go to other countries and not only tell them about how good canada is but how much better it is. Whenever im working and an American person comes in they always are critisizing things. This one lady had the nerve to get mad at me for not giving her american change back, in Lake Louise quite a distance from the American border, what is funny and what is the worst part is that these people dont see what is ridicoulous about this.
We caused the hate that we get. Being ignorant is not a right, especially if you complain about the consequences (see: 9/11 and then: wars in Afghanistan and Iraq). We were ignorant of the terrorist threat that we were arming just 15 years previous to fight the USSR in Afghanistan, and when we were attacked we screamed "TERRORISTS!" The USA as a whole makes me ashamed to live here because we are like a little kid leaving dynamite armed all around our backyard of the world after we are done playing, and eventually it blows up and hits us in our house, at which time we blame the dynamite instead of the people who set the fuse, Us.
"you acredit this to "americans are arrogant and stupid" when in fact, we just dont care about you" - so in other words, you defend your country's arrogance by saying that you're arrogant? wow, that's deep...
You're obviously admiting that I know more about stuff than you do - are you actually proud of that you're stupid? no wait, why should i even frase that as a question, you ARE proud of being stupid.
I can also understand that you don't know much about sweden. my country IS small, i admit that. but the problem is that you don't seem to know ANYTHING about other countries. and since you don't know shit about other countries, how can you state that they stay to themselfs? the only time another country is talked about on the news is when 2000 soliders die in iraq. wow, that's really good global coverage...
^ to all you others, I don't want my comments to seem like hate on all american citizens. I would never have a close-minded aproach when talking to an american. I just think your goverment and media are fucked up... oh yeah, and sniper_6 also.
and you're right g-dawg. There are far too many ungrateful, arrogant, and self-righteous Americans out there. Subconsciously we all create some form of stereotypes and generalizations from past experience. It's inevitable.
But if anyone is going to hate me, treat me differently, or stereotype me because I am an American, then so be it. But how is that any different than racism or saying all black people are looters?
(this is more in response to other people's comments on here)
a tv program i watched a while back said uk was 2nd after US in obesity and was scarily only 15 years behind (how the hell does that measurement work), this was part of health week or something trying to get us to eat better. Fast food availability was as usual blamed i guess the scottish are helping - deep fried creme eggs and mars bars HAH. - don't quote me on facts im a bit hazy.
by the way that video above din help with the argument, not a representitive sample.
