simple...i have 333mhz ram in my laptop right now...is 533mhz going to fry it? they recommend you stay with the same speed thats in it but they always recommend you dont do things
with mhz, if you are still gonna use your old 333mhz on top of the new 533mhz one, then the 333mhz will server as a bottleneck and make the 533mhz work as 333mhz.
I dont think that buying higher mhz then is mean will burn anything out, it just might not work at all or it might be a waste of money. Overclocking is a different situation, but if your talking about just getting new ram, your not talking about overclocking.
