Foils' true centerpoint???

Everybody who have the 174 Foils help me figure this one out. I know this was discussed in another thread, but I'm still confused (sorry for that)!
I have them mounted at recommended.
I did all the measures a few days ago and here goes (these lenghts are from mid sole to the end of the tip/tail):
tip length 87,8cm, tail 84,8
If I measure the length from the +3,5cm forward mount, which is marked on the ski with a very dim line across the whole waist it goes:
tip length 84,1cm, tail 88,5 (tail longer than tip?!)
Appreciate all the thoughts on this one since I'm pretty new to Newschool!

Thing is the recommended mounting point looks almost center (at least compared to PE's or others or so I've read).
Since the Foils ride unbelievably at recomm. i'm wondering how they'll do if I remount them at let's say +2, cause I want more control riding switch and doing spins.

I have the 182's, and that dim line, where the color changes right in the middle of the ski, is a tiny bit closer to the tail than mid center, it might be mid center of the ski that's in contact with the snow. I'm also thinking about mounting +2, apparently the newer versions have two mounting points. I've just got the single mark.

Yeah, that's what I'm considering also.
I might remount mine at +2, which is closer to center on my 174 than on your 182 though.

I just got an email from salomon saying to look for a small triangle (that points towards 1 edge) near the center of the ski -2 from the point for "freeride" and +2 from the point for 'freestyle' but that's on the 182's. And i can't find the triangle on either of my skis. I think I can assume +4 would be 'freestyle'.

So for the 174 the small thin line is good if you ski 50/50 park/all mtn.

Mine sure don't have any triangles!
I'm thinking of remounting mine later today to something between the recomm. and that dim line (dim line is at +3.8cm).
So I'll probably go for something between +1.6cm and +2.0cm.

i know you are trying to help and all but people in the park like different types of skis man. some prefer stiff and some prefer soft. you cant really tell somebody that they should or should not have a certain ski when you are in the park. its all personal prefereance. some people like fatter skis some people like narrower, some like stiff some like soft. just personal preferance thats all. if you are going to be in the park why not move it up? if its only a few cms it wont even hurt the ski that bad.

I don't think anyone on this thread is planning on going center, at least I hope not, I agree that's foolish on the foils. I think Kpugar is just trying to find center so he can have a landmark. I'm in the same boat, these are my park skis, but i got them because they'll ski outside the park really well. I'd like a bit more tail, but don't want to sacrifice all-mountain capabilities. Hence +2 or 3.

That's right! I'm just trying to find the true center point for guideline purposes only!

So is +2cm 2cm in front of the suggested marking or the dead center of the ski? I dont know what to do if i get them.. i was thinking a 1-2 cm back from the marking line

+2 is 2cm forward of the suggested mark. Don't mount behind the suggested mark, that's they're ideal all-mountain mounting point, you would be deminishing the capabilities of the ski in every way.

WAIT..... The little thin line Means NOTHING.... IT may be close to center.. but that is because the foil is made with 2 graphics... and that is where they over lap hence the reason it may be close to center, but on every ski the graphic could be slightly off.... so thus that line means nothing, I also have the triangle less version its confusing... best bet is to go on the website and under specs it says where reccomended is from the tail then just add 2 more cm and u will be at the freestyle point

^thanks for the tip! It clears up a lot!
I too was thinking that thin dim line could be made by tail and tip graphic sheet overlaping, but wasn't sure.

What if the 174 doesn't have that triangle?

^ my 174's dont have a triangle either. All it has is a engraved gold line, then lines in the graphic.

in a 174 the boot mide sole, which should be the little mark on the non arrow models is 806 mm from the tail of the ski... and here is how salmon measures... hold a mesuring tape in the tail and bring it to the line but keep it hovering about the ski,Parallel to the ski, and then draw an imiginary line down to the ski and that is where the mark sould be, so then if you are looking for what is now called the "freestyle position" on the new skis, go 2 cm forward of that.. Thus being 826mm from the tail, again using the invisible line technique...
This was all told to me by a "Tech Rep" on the phone at salomon
