Just make sure his new boots are 3 sizes larger than his street shoe for increased performence and you should be able to always kick his ass.

yeah boots are important, but its not like a comfy boot will preform like hell in the park and suck horses ass in the pow. if you have found a boot which fits like a condom and doesnt hurt in any way, youll be able to do pretty much everything from powder to ice with them. ive always ridden kinda soft ones 80-90flex and never experienced any trouble. as for my buddy rides with racing boots 150flex and rocks pretty much everyting.

not a good boot!!! unless ur brother cannot ski, and doesnt have any chance for progression in his technique, dont let him buy this boot. it is a very sloppy boot when u take it ne where out of the park. there are much better boots out there from other companies that r in the same boat, just have more performance. for your brother's sake, please make him go to the local shop and compare the 1080 foils to the nordica beasts or one of the boots from lange's line up. they cost more, but believe me, boots r the last thing u want to skimp on when it comes to performance. ur brother will thank u, trust me....

in that case......YES the beasts are very comparable boots to the 1080 foils, yet they r much more stable and have much more potential. also, they are a much tighter fit(better padding, not in terms of being narrow) which helps a lot when carving, it really does, ne one who says different probably cannot carve very well. if ur brother goes with the beasts (assuming they fit him) he will not be dissappointed.

^ive heard nothing but good things about the 1080. ive talked to several others who has ridden them for a few seasons and have no complaints. i bet you never tried em on, and if you did i bet your clamps were all loose. youre the only one dragging them down. please go eat a blowfich and die!

^actually i have tried the 1080. this is a boot that was designed for the park. its very easy to flex and its also a much cheaper boot than the others in its category. but when it comes to real performance (im talkin arcin 50 mph turns or charging down a fifty degree slope) the 1080 falls very short of exceptional. it begins to feel very sloppy half way down the steep and thats not wut u want there.
i really dont hate this boot, its just nothing special, u r getting what ur paying 4.

yeah okay. i dont know about you, but i like to cork out switch 5s in the park, doing butters, hitting rails etc while youre busy straightlining the back of the mountain.

basically you said this is a sucky boot cuz it doesnt perform at 50mph. this is an excellent allaroundboot, and i bet this year youll hear evem more positive feedback on them then ever. a friend of mine, who is an agressive skier, have skied these for 2 seasons and has no problems handling them in the powder. as for mine which i got last week they seem to be abit stiffer than my old rossis index90

how can he have tried them 2 seasons, this seasons boot has a completely different flex to last years, making them perform differently

the 1080 isnt a shitty boot. its the exact same last and plastic as the xwaves, just with a shitty liner and strap. if you put any meat on your ski, the boot will flex way to easily for ripping pow. however, its a really well designed boot, perfect for park and can easily perform all aroudn the mountain. if he doesnt weigh much then it would be perfect for all mountain.
the beast is wide, almost too wide. they got rid of it for a reason and made the replacement (speed machine) narrower. having a thicker liner, making the boot snugger, does not do anything for performance. it will pack out and be sloppier than shit. you want a shug shell.
