it was fucking epic. sickest conditions for an opening day ever...kunz were you with errol? I hucked someting big under the chair and blew a shoe right through a pillow line.
yeah i was with errol, i was half asleep when you came to the car and didn't realize what was going on. haha, we saw you take that digger, too. good stuff, haha.
Goddamn im jealous... stuck down here in Portland.. waiting till friday to head up to shiesty ass mount hood.... but ill be shreddin it up there come xmas
-For all real skiers out there, it would be sick to ride with another freeskier. Its my third year riding baker and I know some sick ass runs that are hard to find...But I am working custodial and I will only be skiing 2 hours a day (either morning or afternoon). Message me if your coming up and want to ski some sick shit.
That was my first time at baker. Wow. Thanks to Gundy and Grant for a great time. See the story on powdermag.com tomorrow morning. I really want to tell everyone out there Baker sucked, don't ever go. I'm so torn.
C'mon people. I saw this sticker on a truck the other day. It's one of the guys down here at Surfer Mag. It says "Surfing sucks. Don't try it." Get it now?
He was being sarcastic. I dont really see how someone could say baker sucks, because there are alot of magazines saying otherwise. I think he was just using a mechanism of defense against hords of people going to baker. So good work.
^ yea.... exactly... baker did used to be different back in the day too... before all the people... those were the days... baker still rocks my world though..
Theres insane amounts of people compared to before... and so many more gapers too. The ski area has changed a lot too with the amounts of people... their prices, their policies, their enforcement of policies, and their "localness" has gone down the shitter. Take for instance the Banked Slalom (snowboarding) it used to be a local and fun event at the mountain, and now all the local kids (im talking glacier and maple falls style) who grew up on the mountain cant even get into it. Baker is like any other business now... its all about the C.R.E.A.M. dolla dolla bill yall.
It is however still my favorite place on earth to be.
population growth and wanting your business to survive will do that to you. still i ask, what people? i have been to ski resorts near and far and nothing is remotely comparative to baker in terms of crowds, especially taking into account the amount of terrain and hype the moutain gets. i have never waited more than ten minutes and that has maybe happened once in the past ten years. not considering waiting for first chair and maintenance problems.
The crowds have grown but they will never compare to other ski areas since they cant build condos, hotels, etc right on the mountain. If they could do that im sure it would be another intrawest where we would be paying mad dollars to sit in extremely long line ups.
