Hey David,
We measure the skis according to ISO standard. True if you compare them with Gay skis with no tail, they ski shorter by about 30 to 100 mm depending if you compare with race skis or normal short tail skis. Our problem is that if we would make 185 invaders we would sell about 15 pairs including yours.
Regards,
Francois

185
and, i think they should make a stiffer version. i havent physically flexed it yet, but it seems super soft, and the guys at my shop are saying its so soft, it doesnt have pop at all.
so
185 is great, you should defintely do it. and think about making a stiffer version. i love the symmetrical shape though.

The whole point of the invader is that its soft.....stiffening it is moronic. If your buying the invader your buying a jib ski, your not buying something to handle all mountain stuff.
And i can see why they would say that there is not enough market for it because really there isn't...thalls, 176,fujas 179, stl 183...notice how 4frnt is the only company making the slightly longer ski?
How many of you own the 183 stl over the 177 and bought it not because it was the better deal but because thats the actual length you wanted?
When your jibbing even if your 6 foot 5 you don't need a long stick.

Not to be a jerk, but I am with the line guy here. A 185 invader really wouldnt sell great. Think about it: a super long, very soft ski? doesnt work well together. They would suck on ice or hard turns. 178 is all that is necessary for a park specific ski. And if you want something longer, get something stiffer instead

I completely agree. With what that ski is designed for there is no need for a longer size. It would probably be a warranty nightmare and / or very small units for Line. Not worth investing the money in a for a new mold

i agree with this post. The invaders are pretty much soley park skis and if you make them to long they will not perform to well outside of the park like the guy above said

If the invader is as soft as everybody says, a 185 wouldn't kill it, it'd probably kill you. Imagine hitting some ice with a 185 noodle, you'd have no ability to carve out of it.

y do you have to carve out of it?

why? its designed for a 6' 160lbs man. its made to be skied short. maybe a little bigger for people over 6' but anything under and 172 is fine due to the way it was designed.

Park skis dont need to be long, i dont a 185 ski would sell that well cause it would be way too flexy and they'd prolly have to change the flex pattern for something that size, it would snap too easily. Even for like 6'5'' people 178 is more than enough. Park skis on a regular basis are supposed to go up to ur mouth and not too many people are that tall that ski.

I sell Line skis for a pretty big Northern California account and I strongly beleive that the 185cm Invader would be at least the third if not the second best selling Invader size next to the 178cm. I write the twin tip order for my store and I would order at least as many 185cm Ivaders as 171cm Invaders next year if you made them(around three to four pairs). The current trend in New School skiing is, if you havn't noticed, toward longer skis. Last year the 176 AR5 was the most popular park ski for instance and this year the 180 AR5 is. Not because kids are getting bigger but because they've started at an earlier age and can handle a bigger ski by the time they're full grown. By the way your skis measure tip to tail shorter than every other twin tipped ski on the market and I deal 11 ski brands so you can't very well go and call all of them gay. When kids are trying to ski one ski for park powder and all mountain they can afford to sacrifice swing weight for ski performance and a 185 Invader would be the best one ski New School quiver ever. Thank you thank you thank you if you build it they will come.

well i forgot to tell you that i'm 6" 1' and well a 175 ski just is pretty short for me

all you guys bitch moan n whine about how short the invaders are...im 6'2" and weigh prolly more than any of you and i have the 178's...they are a PARK ski...all you midgest buying sizes too big for you are going to be sadly dissappointed when you can't ski the things the same as someone that fits them properly...don't get me wrong i don't ride short ass skis all the time, i have 186 pollards too for all mtn/powder...but the position you're in with your boots on (leaning forward slightly) drops your height by at least an inch plus most ppl bend their knees to absorb shock...so is a 178 really too short for a 6'2" person?? i don't think so

I can't see an invader bigger than like 181 being too important. I understand the bigger guys out there like their skis long cause thats how it goes, but a true centered ski longer than 180 is pretty intense. I had my 181's centered last year and loved it, but I dont think I'd buy a 185 over a 178 ski, maybe only if they weren't a super soft jib specific ski. Now my opinion is based not nothing really because my 181's were mt's so they were stiff, but I haven't been on a centered soft ski that size so I'm just guessing.

You can pretty much disreguard my post, because all that really matters is what poeple want, if enough poeple want a 185 invader, then they'll make them and sell them.

i'll def. take a 185 invader because i have 178s and they seem small because they're so light.
