Along with eceryone else, I really like these. Especially the last one. Did you do one with a fill flash for the model? Not sure which one would be better.

The first 2 are weird cause normally photos like that are boring, but the exposures and compositions make them interesting.

naw, i didnt use a flash at all. i only use a flash at events and shows.. maybe that will change once i get a better flash.

beeen really diggin your bike shots lately, nice framing and dramatic lighting... the only thing i think might help is some sort of softbox attachment for your flash, soften up the light a bit, ya know?

I've been thinking that might not be bad either. In the past I've used single-ply tissues for portraits, but I haven't got any proper diffusers. Maybe I should have something more professional than kleenex and cereal-box gobos. I've also been thinking about using bubble wrap or colored gels more as lighting mods, but I'd need at least two flashes to make that look good.

I took these after we hiked Mt. Quandry yesterday. We drove past this waterfall and I thought it would be a good place to try out my new tripod and to try using a longer exposure. I had trouble with the picture being overexposed at first, so I played with the F numbers and disabled the Auto Lighting Optimizer.

This was my first try with longer exposures, any tips would be much appreciated for next time!

Well, getting high res images onto NS is tough, because of the limit. I'd just go ahead and use a third party website for that, like Flickr or Photobucket. Or, you can downsize your photos and upload to NS- 5mb is still pretty big.

that was my first ever attempt at hdr. just playing around. imho hdr degrades a photo. it sickens me when a high dynamic range photo wins a photo contest (see 2009 smithsonian and washington post photo contests)

absolutely sickens me. a well done single-exposure is on a completely different level than an HDR
