JuliusJAwesome shot, but unpublished ski photos just as in from Hood shots? I feel like Hood jump shoots are a dime a dozen. If not, I want to see some other ski shots!

MTMI just bought my friends 7D from him as he just got a 5d mkiii. I'm pretty new to this whole photography thing though I do have a basic understanding of exposure, etc. Lay it on me, folks!

TijmenDalWow! Where is that? That's an amazing spot to photograph. Pretty cool shoot as well, but I don't like that the man is cut off.
DIPED_IN_SAUCEThis has awesome Photoshop potential, any ideas what I should do to i? I'm thinking some cool shit with the sky falling down or aliens.
Bakerpowbut this is "your best photography" thread not lets throw a semi cool photoshop onto a mediocre photo thread...
and we should really keep the limit of photos you can post to two or three or less. your best doesnt necessarily imply 6-7 of your latest photos. it really does help if you take a critical look at your photos before posting. i havent really been happy with a photo iv taken in months.
MTMonce again I am really new to photography but i am having a great time with it and am open to and encouraging any tips or ways to make my photos better. Thanks a ton!

straighten this and it would be awesome. the corner wall in the back with the vertical lines and the table make it obvious the camera was slanted (unless thats what you were going for then ignore me)
all the other ones look awesome, where were they taken? i really like the third one
Blake.P1: maybe its just me, but the climber looks slightly out of focus. not a bad idea and framing, just less than great execution (it looks like it may be slightly underexposed too)
2: the sky shouldnt be white. not any real subject, but kinda a cool perspective.
3: very boring and no real subject. its just looking up with a fisheye, nothing special at all, and really wierd (unpleasing) different lines
here is my take, 1 is definitely your best, but the execution could have been better (get in focus and get the exposure right. if it were in focus, it can easily be fixed in lightroom, but the out of focus is hard to fix). two is somewhat boring in daylight, but if you want to get into star photography (really fun and a great way to help learn about how to use a camera, i recommend), this would be a cool shot with the night sky in the back. 3 is just plain bad, no real way to salvage it and the lack of a subject is really bad. as a rule, avoid shooting straight up (once you are better, rules are meant to be broken, but not now)
im not trying to be harsh, but one thing i really wish is that people were brutally honest with me when i started. more blunt critiques will definitely help you take better pictures, because you will know exactly what not to do
JakeSmithSome from Durango this past weekend
I know star shots are very overdone, but still shoot me some crit please

RealistI feel like a bit of intimacy is lost by cropping his eyes in this, but I'm sure it was intentional with your composition.
.Steezy-McGee.Would love some critique on these, thanks!
uni-cornGot ice cream with the GF's nephews tonight and took out the 50. Feedback?
Both capture his mischievous side - I like that about them; I think it's that grin. I really like the moment you captured in the second one. Pure joy and indulgence, and nice framing using the rule of thirds. The first one could use some sort of oomph in the colour palette - just play around with it a bit and really make it pop (it might be this monitor, I haven't calibrated it recently). I'd be interested to see the second one in colour?
YoungDaph (I think) posted some pics earlier of her pets - just wanted to say I really liked both the close-up of the dog and the one with the cat. The focus on the eyes was just right, and they were framed in a way that draws you in.
FilmingBitchWow I messed that one up, holy n00bage. Obviously, I meant to quote and THEN write this...

Bakerpow1.) horizon is crooked
2.) alright kinda meh for me
3.) too much open space, odd amount of ocean shown
4.) used space well and subjects are interesting
5-7.) all kinda boring and too much open space no real subject
8.) like this one a lot as well. could have been framed a little better but the idea is there
NotoriousLIPPlayed around with some different perspectives of the same jump the other day. Let me know what you think.
Blake.Pthoughts? also do you prefer the black and white or color version?
