I dropped of my ski/bindings (Look p10's) without the lifters because I dont want them mounted. I get a call from the shop saying they need them because the heel piece would be to high. How do you explain to the shop to mount without the lifters. He already dripped the hell screws also.
Ya I'm pretty sure the lifters don't HAVE to be mounted. So bring them to a new shop. They should have some screws that you could buy from them or they might just give them to you.
there will be a lifter front and back. the screws are too long. take em to a new shop if the guy is having questions about this. some ski bindings come with a lift plate built into the front or back so might wanna check that out. otherwise shorter screws and a different shop should do the trick.
YOU HAVE TO BUY THE 1MM LIFTER. the heelpiece wont go on without it there isnt enough room to slide it on the track. You need the 1mm lifter and there like 20 bucks. BAHAHA im the only smart one.
yeah dude, bad call just taking the lifters out of the box, if the dude wouldn't have noticed, you would have had screws driven through the base of your ski, and thats not cool.
None of the shops have ever had the shorter hardware when i want my skis flat-mounted. Here's what i do:
I have them mount the skis with the riser plate (lifter) and then i take them home, and take the bidings off. I cut down the screws and just remount the bindings without the riser. I put a drop of wood glue into the screw holes, just to give a little extra hold.
we mounted my brother's axial 120's without the lifters and its kinda sketch. the reason the jibs have that little orange mat under them, like someone above said, is to give the heeltray clearance to slide on smoothly. it also evens out the pressure the screws put onto the heeltray and keeps the heel in place better. without that little peice, since the mounting zone on the heel is so short, the heel can kinda wiggle around a bit. dont mount them yourself, you'll end up ripping the bindings out or having crooked bindings.
ha, you must ride on salomon skis. i have put three different pairs of bindings on my PE's and not one of them has ripped out. same holes every time also. you just have to make sure not to strip the holes when installing the new or removing the old binders.
