I am getting REALLY sick and tired of older members complaining about how the site used to be, how all these new members suck and how ALL of the older dudes are better than us.
Correct me if im wrong, but if anything, you guys should be happy you got to experience something more from this site, something you wish you still had, but nonetheless had and that we as newer members will NEVER have apparently.
All i have known is the site from january of this year to now, and its not much better now than it was when i first joined, though i have seen some improvement in my short time on here, but this site still kicks major ass.
So please, why complain? i mean, besides the fact we're complaining about an internet site, that is pretty sad. EMBRACE the fact that you got to experience a high point of the site, whereas we, the noobs, will never see it, at least not on the main site.
In that thread, the older member, that i do not know btw, is complaining about not having anymore contact with some members that were on there or having lost sight of them. But for me, if you leave a site for a year, stuff happens, and especially on a site of a relatively new sport, things are not going stay the same one year to the next. And, come on, if you really like a dude, get his instant messaging adress, or his email. don't expect a site to remain immutable for its whole life, and don't expect people to hang around waiting for you to come back if you leave for a year. People grow up, get a life, and new kids who are at the same stage you guys were before you left show up.
Also, like Sharpy pointed out in there, the cults are the places to be, we all know that. and i know for a fact that the site was not much better one year ago compared to where it is now, so there should be no suprise the NSG went further down the tube from the time where dude left till now, and that the cults are where to look seems like a basic fact known to all older members.
But what i don't agree with in what Justin said is that all the new kids are horrible. I beg to differ. you have to sift more, sure, but that comes with a load of members no?
Also, a whole lot of us newbies are helping keep the site fun and enjoyable, and keeping the spirit going. Check The Black Watch cult. We are mostly newbs, but damn, i think we've achieved something almost par with PPP and DL.
To overgeneralize like that is insulting to the new guys that want to contribute in a good way, and not motivating anyone if we keep getting shut down and insulted by the "veterans". Want to make the site a better place? Stop whining, and help the new kids out, for them to be like you want them to be. i know i was molded, get crackin elders and do some more. stop the hate, spread the love!
when it comes to post count, goodness, how hypocritical is it to say "all these kids with 6000 posts" in a pejorative sense when what you're aiming at is that post count means nothing? i personally don't care about how much i post, ill post when i want and as much as i want, BECAUSE post count means nothing. All it shows is how much of a life you have outside of NS, and i have NONE. No life= high post count.
Im just really getting tired of being bashed, directly, or indirectly by older members because we owe them something for the site going "down the hole", and that as noobs we are inferior to them somehow. i say: grow up guys, realize that things change, that new blood is not a bad thing, and stop complaining and make this site better by contributing in a positive way to the NSG or whatever, and mold the kids into what you think they should be.
Us noobs are keeping the site alive, sorry for ruining such a good thing you guys had going in being your own little niche.
Honestly guys. and that means im a hypocrite, cause i care so much about this. but i don't care about caring anymore. This is just absurd and appaling: immutability on an internet site for a growing sport was never a part of the deal guys.
end rant. honestly.
to lighten the mood: quhonk FTW!.
