Gluing down lexan

Hey guys i searched but couldnt find if anyone has tried gluing down lexan or plexi glass instead of countersinking it. I was just at home depot and the lexan they had was too thin to countersink a screw into. You think it would be possible to glue it down with some super strength glue or liquid nails or something? has anyone tried this?

i was thinking the samething, homedepot had some thick sheets but were far too expensive. im gonna search for something else, but i would recommend gorilla glue, that shit is almost illegal.

I saw that gorilla glue id prolly go for that. Ya the lexan that was affordable was too thin. I may try the one step down arcrylic stuff that said like 200 times the strength of glass.

those thin sheets of lexan are just going to crack and warp and break really fast if your glueing it to wood use PL400 cualk

liquid nail works good
i used that to connect a rail to wood and massonite to a ramp

yeah we made one by countersinking and in the heat it definatly expanded...i would suggest screwing just because if it expands its not going to stick back together w/o more glue

we got a 4'x2' piece of lean and cut it in half making 2 4'x1' sections. 1/4 inch thick for 42 bucks. we countersunk it.

we got it at home depot. we cut ours using a table saw, but im pretty sure if you cut it deep with a razor and bend it, it will break cleanly

like snapjibber said, use a countersinking drill bit, drill hole, and then use screws. its the best way by far.

they have thicker stuff at homodepot, but its dumb expensive

i just used glue gun to put my lexan down on my box and it works fine

yea when snapjibber and i built it we just had to file where the two pieces of lexan came togeather to make it smooth. but if you cut it with a table saw make sure you go real slow so you dont crack it.
