Hey I have a french independant study due on friday and i decided to do it on skiing, but i dont know any of the terminology in french,
like what is rails, jibbing, grinding, superpipe, twin tips, jumps, or is it the same in english and french? and also what about rodeos and that is it all the same? as well jumping is that just sauter? appreciate it guy/girls
What the hell were they doing with a car on the moon?... havent they gone far enough?

grinding, pipes, jibbing, and twin tips. . . personally, i've been studying the french language for three years, and i believe those are AMERICAN slang words. not FRENCH words. i could be wrong, but it'd be very hard to write a paper in french on newschool skiing if the words you use have only been invented in the last few years. Pick an easier subject, such as what you want for christmas, or some holiday, or about your favorite foods and describe them. But after three years of studying mysefl, the only thing i've been taught about sking is this :J'adore fait du ski. Translation: I love skiing.
Good luck writing it if you want to, but i'd suggest finding another topic to write about

most of those wierd dont exist in the french language. and dont even bother trying to figure out stuff like twintips. stick to the basics. like skiis. ce plus facile si tu parle le plus simple que possible.
but on the hill you mainly hear people speaking in french reffering to those things by they're american names

oui oui, cravate est vrai. Dans cinq minutes, je peux ecrire deux cent mots en francais, et j'ai etudie le francais pour trois ans. Un peu! And now i revert to english. just use simple words and BS it! Don't write about skiing. a big super pipe would be like un grande pipersuper. They're american words that don't have equivelants in french.

i live in quebec so i'm pretty used to talking to ppl in french and it's mostly all slang. We don't really speak french we speak QUEBECOIS! I'm not a seperaitist bastard but i like the quebecois language it's fun... Anyway, a rail is 'un rail' a jump is 'le jump', twintips are 'des twintip' rodoe 5 is 'un rodeo cinq' it's all basicly english with a bit of french thrown in... teachers however will interpret it as errors... so before you start make it clear to the teacher that their are no translations in french and that she shouldn't take marks off. If she disagrees tell her that she know nothing and do you're whole god damn oral in quebecois! It'll piss her off! believe me...
Where I live, there are five ski resorts within 10 kilometers of my house. Everybody who lives here, whether they're rich or poor, skis all the time. In the winter, skiing's a way of life.
