I was at my local shop a few days ago looking to pick up some new skis...I narrowed it down to the MSP's and ARV's, because i want a wide ski even tho i ski east coast.. I weigh 135 lbs and im 5'10"..They said that the 4frnt would be a much more difficult ski because its really stiff and i am too light for them...anyone my size ski 4frnts and have any problems?? which ski would u reccomend?
what about the STL?? i kinda want 4frnts this year because i had AR5's last year and plan on keeping them..the only reason i didnt first look at stls is because they are similar in width and dimensions to the AR5
The new moships are a great ski for doing everything. Soft enough for park, stable enough for speed, wide enough for pow. Of the three discussed, those would be my top choice.
it's just because line is going through a bunch of changes right now. they fired their whole team and are late on getting the invaders out that everyone preordered. also, a lot of people don't like the bindings... that's basically it.
the moships will be good for everything thought?? i ski east coast all year, probably 50% all mountain, mostly groomers, and 50%park..and i go out to Salt lake for a week..will this ski do it all?? and better than the AR5's?
I don't see any reason for you to buy STLs. I'm pretty much in the same position... I have 176 AR5s from last season which I'm going to keep for park, and I want a new pair of skis for this season for more all mountain stuff. I was also trying to decide between the 185 ARV and the 187 MSP, and I decided on the 187 MSPs because I wanted something stiffer to punch through the churned up sierra cement, occasionally ski switch, hit booters, and do minimal (to no) jibbing, but still wide enough to float. If you want a pure powder ski, the ARV is the better choice because it is softer... but since you already have AR5s, your need for a soft ski should already be fulfilled.
I have some 04-05 4FRNT MSP's in 180 for sale....brand new never mounted or anything...no changes other than graphics from 04-05 to 05-06...let me know
STLs are noodles do not buy them for all mountain, great park ski though.
The new Mothership is the same as last years Mothership Flite I believe. It does not have any titanium in it so it is geared more toward jumping than actual all mountain. Since you are light it won't be as much of an issue. Personally I'd recommend the MSP if you are skiing out west, it's not a 2x4 or anything you will be fine and a beefier ski makes you a better skiier once you get into it.
Word. At your weight the Motherships would kill it. You could ski the 172 or 182. Sean will probably say 182 am I right Sean? If you kill it ski them long otherwise cop the shorter pair. Or maybe a 179 Vicious.
this man speaks the truth. there is no such thing as to light for a ski. get some muscle or learn how to ski. that way, you can get the ski to do some of the work.
but yea, havnt skied any of em, but you can never be to light.
