How durable is the 1080 compared to the gun- does the price affect this?
I'm pretty lightweight- 140lbs. I ski park quite a bit but I still like cruising up the pistes and hit powder whenever I get the chance. Will the guns be too stiff for me?
How does the stiffness compare to other freeride style boots- I used to have atomic T-1s, can anyone compare?

O.k. I have used salomon boots for years and have owned 6 pairs. The 1080 boot is cheap compared to other models. The liner is shitty and the power strap barely holds the boots together. I put my x-wave 10 liner in the 1080 and added a booster strap and then I didn't mind the boot. The pro model is based on their course race boots so it has a lower volume fit compared to x-wave/1080 and much stiffer side to side. Forward flex is slightly stiffer with the pros. I ordered pro models this year after only ever using x-waves.

I just bought '05 1080 boots (the silver and black ones with wings).
The boots are so comfy, and seem fairly flexy.
What does it feel like to have boots that are too soft outside the park?
If they were too stiff I'm sure I'd be able to feel it, but as ridiculous as it sounds, I'm not sure I'd know what too soft feels like.
Can someone describe it?

most likely yes. and since you're probably still growing, don't waste your money on a boot you'll outgrow in one, maybe two seasons. get the regular 1080.

Actually those numbers are sizes, not stifness chart. a 1080 is like 75 and a pro model is like 90.
It pisses me off every time I see such a thread come up, 1080 and pro model are two totally different boots. As its been said, pro model is like the Course, and the 1080 is like the X-wave 6, so basically, a cheap ass boot.
The idea behind the 1080 is a version that looks like the ones the riders are on(pro model) that is not expensive so people can buy it a lot..in fact its a cheap as hell boot, and low end one.
