Wow how i would love to know what goes on in the world of the CIA there is so much shit we don't know about. I love how America just goes outside of their own country to avoid human rights laws, i think no matter where you are in the world the CIA and the army should have to run under the laws of their own country. I mean i think the terrorists should rot in hell but everyone has rights and thats why the states are even in Iraq right? or we would like to think they are there to push the rights and freedoms we in North America have

gee, now we know why bush/cheney were pushing to legalize the use of torture outside the US as long as those who carried it out were government officials not under the pentagon (undercover ops).... looks like theyre getting ready to bust out some war crimes. i just love our fucking government

A few things:

1. If they (the prisoners) are not American citizens, they should not be treated as such...and they aren't BTW.

2. The governments of the nations in which these camps are kept don't seem to have much of a problem with it.

3. We are technically at war. In reality, there are no rules, despite what any international tribunal would like to think.

im gonna point out a little tidbit you folks might have missed... Not everyone in jail is guilty, you stupid mother fuckers. thus not everyone being tortured will have shit to say, or have deserved it. they will end up giving us bad/conflicting info, and were gonna spend more time and money investigaitn gbad leads


MY POINT: less than 10 people in the history of Guantanomo (our POW prison in cuba) has been allowed a trial in the united states of america. every single one that did get tried won their case. against our government. in the us. with a federal judge. in a federal court. our government has NEVER proved that a single "terrorist" weve held is actually guilty of shit. ever single one was found completely innocent. now were torturing these people? what the fuck?

Well "stupid mother fucker," unlike Gitmo, these camps are reserved for prisoners that are more likely to have valuable information...otherwise they would be in Cuba. Why do you think the camps are so secret in the first place? Both the information and methods are much more sensitive. Furthermore, they are prisoners at war. It really doesn't really matter if they have information or not...THEY WHERE CAPTURED IN COMBAT.

And your trial in the United States thing is misleading. POWs can not be put through the regular courts, unless they are US citizens. Also, where does it say that 10 people have won thier case...thats news to me.

the prisoners can fall under the rules of their own country that doesn't bother me, what bothers me is that the army and the CIA doesn't have to follow their own rules just because they aren't at home. If the terrorists were iraqi for example and were in iraqi prisons under iraqi rule then what happens to them wouldn't bother me that much, but if we are going to their country to change them to our system then use our system of laws not theirs

Alright, I feel like I have to reply to this thread since I am currently in Iraq and spent just about two years here hunting down these terrorist bastards. What some of you fail to realize is that by the time a detainee reaches a camp like that they have already previously been interogated numerous times and have been deemed of a "intelligence value". It's not like the military or the CIA for that matter just randomly captures people of the street to send to some prison. If the CIA is involved in the Arrest of a target, that individual is on their "radar" for a good reason. I have been in this country for a long time and take my word for it, some of these people deserve to be in a place like that. Yea, so they might get ruffed up a little bit but who cares, they do the same to us and I have never seen a thread on here about the american contractors that had their dead bodies dragged naked through the streets then strung up on a bridge while most of the people standing their to watched cheered and burned the american flag. What we do sometimes isn't pretty and in a perfect world might not be right, but if it gets the job done and a terrorist is taken off the streets, then so be it. As to the person who talked about the trials of the gitmo detainee's, do you realize who much of that incriminating evidence is classified and could not be used in court? So, go back to worrying about how much snow you might get this weekend and leave the terrorist to people like the CIA and the military. REMEMBER 9/11, REMEMBER THE USS COLE, REMEMBER BERUIT, REMEMBER SOMOLIA, REMEMBER THE FALLEN. You wanna see the real world? COME SPEND SOME TIME OVER HERE.

Quite frankly, I'm surprised that a secret, underground, ILLEGAL, IMMORAL, TORTURE FILLED, CIA prison ring isn't causing international headlines. 4 years ago, it would have been.

It's fucking ridiculous that in this day and age, we're letting people get away with shit that is almost comparable to the Nazi atrocities of WWII.

But enough out of me, let's hear it for the guys in uniform who aren't keeping anyone safe from shit, causing more trouble than they can possibly imagine, and in fact, actually inciting more terrorism than was occuring in the first place. GOOD JOB BOYS!

just a thought: the parallel you have with the nazis seems a bit far fetched.

except for torture, possible war crimes, and deportations of people, which let's face it, we know nothing about as far as the classified info goes, there is not a part that is comparable to the nazis in what the US is doing.

the nazis did this sort of thing to innocent jews, gypsies, blacks etc, not so much combatants of the opposite forces. Also, they were exterminating these innocent people. last i checked, the US does nothing of the sort.

also, you have to assume that terrorists respect the "rules of war", and therefore shoudl be treated as proper POWs under the geneva convention. however, these people attack civilian targets on purpose and in general show no kind of restraint or conventional fighting. the geneva convention doesn't really apply.

B-Wald, i agree they are still people, but do they treat other human life any better than the US? like i said, terroristys attack civilian targets, women, children, innocent people who ahve no direct implication in their agression they arerebelling against. to me, terrorists have abandonned their humanity the day they decided they can unprovokably kill innocent people and take their lives for no reason whatsoever.

i wouldn't consider them much of humans, same as the nazis.

i have no idea what to do about the innocent in prison. the way i see it, all you can do is trust that the CIA wouldn't waste its time on people that are pretty obvious to being innocent and that they have a reaosn for incarcerating them in the first place, be it involvement or known connections to terror groups.

alos, we are not stooping to their level in any way, just stooping lower then some would deem acceptable. i read in a Newsweek aticle about Gitmo that they were handed out a guide, and in it is said something along the lines of: "you will be treated well, so cause as much commotion as possible". Hence the flushinf og the toilet and non cooperation. their treatement may be inferior to most prisons, but by no means are we burning their corpes and shovin them in the face of other prisoners, not are we publicly executing anyone.

ya it is, ive seen them ive heard stories. my best friend is in iraq right now hes told stories about these people and what they tell him im just glad he isnt one of them. I dont support this war at all so why should i think that guy above is saying something right. the only thing i support in this war is my friend.

the thing i love about torture is that the person being tortured will tell the torturers whatever they want to hear. If you were getting needles shoved under your nails or were getting strategically burned, wouldn't you say [retty much anythign to get it to stop, especially if you weren't guilty. The non-guilty won't be military types and thus won't have base to sustain them through torture. I think the US government is pretty much retarded if they are resorting to torture.

Also, everyone should have rights, the fact that the US is torturing people is making them just as bad as the terrorists. Frankly, I actually rather die by explosion rather than by torture though.

1. Human is a bit vague. Granted we are all of the same species and should be given certain undeniable rights, however one human to the next can be dramatically different. We are the most diverse and complex of all beings on this earth. All are human in the flesh, but the mind can vary dramatically. For an extreme example, I would not hold Charles Manson and Antonin Scalia in the same light. Would you? If they (the POWs) hold low regard for human life, they should not be raised to standard. They do not deserve it.

2. Last time I checked, the goal was to liberate the innocent civilians, not the radical separatists that would kill innocent people at the drop of a dime.

3. It makes all the difference in the world if we are at war. Its not like we have plucked random people off the streets and sent them to secret camps. These are enemy combatants that have are believed to have sensitive information. For the good of advancing this war to a close, measures should be taken to extract information to ensure progress. It doesn't matter in the slightest whether you agree why we are at war, the fact is that we ARE at war.



Apart from the treatment of the actual prisoners, this should be a non-issue. I don't understand how some people are latching onto this and acting surprised, you shouldn't be. You'll find life to be quite the roller coaster if this catches you awkwardly.
