Would the karma be good for some backcountry skiing en how is the weight of the ski??

it will be ok. its not that fat for a BC ski but they are pretty light. i'd look at something more like the gotama

its fine for the BC. i dunno how many BC threads iv responded to about this, but depending on how long your skin/hike out is, or depending on if you skin or hike, you dont need a ginormous ski.
if your skinning, keep in mind that a 130mm skin will run you about $150 or so. also, with a big waist, alot of times its a bitch to haul up the hill. not only are they heavier(you can usually muscle that though) but youll find that you are knocking the insides of your skis right around your feet alot. this is not very fun and is hard on the ski.
so if you dont mind or can get through all of this, the fatter ski will be more rewarding on the downhill portion. but if you want to sacrafice a tiiiiny float and performance for much more energy and fun, go with a 90-95 waist.
