do u guys think its possible for a relationship to work out between ppl who are extremely good friends beforehand? asically all of a sudden i am totally infatuated with one of my best friends... and well it sucks bcuz i so dont want to ruin our friendship. And if she doesnt have any desire to be in that kind of relationship and i say something things will be really fucked up. And the worst thing is that im not really sure if i like her or not, its kind of this thing thats there sometimes but not all the time. Im confused i need help. a girls opinion might be really helpful

I tried it last year with one of my best friends and it really didn't work out. We both liked each other quite a bit and really wanted to be together so we kind of informally were. It was always very awkward because we would go out to a movie or something like always had before, and now all of a sudden it was a date. It kind of hurt our relationship because we didn't talk like good friends anymore, instead it was an awkward guy girl situation. We somewhat lost our close level of friendship and things weren't as cool as they were without the weird sexual tension going on. A month or so later we stopped speaking anyways because of unrelated reasons so I never got to see how it turned out. Its like 6 months later and I still miss her, but more as a good friend than as a girlfriend. So I'd reccomend that you play it cool at least for a while and decide if this is just an attraction crush type thing or if you actually want to be with her and make a long-term relationship out of it, and then see if she feels the same way by talking to her friends. Like I said in my situation we both liked each other and it still turned awkward. I say just make sure what you want before you do anything that could compromise a good friendship.

it could work. that happened with my friend. he was friends with a girl for a few years, then they were going out for a few months, then they broke up, and didnt talk for about 2 months, then they finally started talking again, and theyre going out again. im guessing when they break up, they'll stop talking to each other again. but ya. i'd rather be really good friends with someone, then go out with someone for a month or 2, and bever talk to them again.
how old r u?
cuz if ur like 15 or 16, its obviously not going to work out in the long run, but if ur out of school, and all that, then maybe.

Im going out with a chick who was one of my best freinds before we went out....Things are going good, it's only been a month but everything is great. Definatly wait a bit till you settle down and really think about it and get out of that 'crush' mode....

g-dubs speaks truth. I have the same situation, but me and the girl (who's still my best friend) talked it over and decided that staying close friends is better than being in a love/sexual relationship. As g-dubs mentioned, the tension hurts the friendship. Also, if you're friends, you stay friends; but if you're dating and romantically attached, people always break up sometime. I consider it better to preserve a friendship, and find a romantic relationship with someone new.

i once dated my best friend and things got really awkward after we stopped. We're still good friends but not as close as we were before.

But if you think she likes you aswell then why not try? but think it over real good before you make a move.  because you either have a awesome time or you are maybe going to loose a close friend.

Ironically, i didn't really read the whole topic i just ressurected it. I HAD the same situation. She was my best friend, and i think that we were too alike, that's when problems started. Each party i went too she was there and we hooked up each time. Homies said it was a mistake but i was all caught up in the moment cause i was stoked. We started getting too protective of eachother, when i'd even speak to a chick she would be pissed. And the wierd thing about is that we weren't even dating.

OP did in fact start dating this girl. they had a good relationship going until his meth lab got busted. He's still serving time and she is trying to fee the kids.

He is right, it shouldnt be a change of status because you want to fool around. You have to feel confortable, if its too weird, back off and try again another time.

been in that position several times. one time the girls the one that told me and the other time i told them i liked them. i didnt end up going out with any of them except one and we just stopped goin out cuz it was awkward since we were such great friends. we still are tight and im still extremely close to everyone else it happened with. goodluck with your predicament

i've been dating my best friend for almost three years now. key to it-- go into it lightly with no expectations. if she really is a good friend, but doesn't share your same feelings when you tell her, she shouldn't judge you for liking her. it can work out to be really awesome if you do end up dating.
