Dog Training

So, in our basement we have a living room. And one of my fucking dogs keeps shitting in it, so its starting to smell (even though we clean it). This dog is fucking 10 years old and never used to do this, but now all of a sudden shes scared of the grass. ITS FUCKED UP. I'm getting really pissed off and need an alternative to beating my dog. Can anyone help?

I got a puppy and we just take it out like every second hour... like after every meal, everytime hes slept... that way he learns that pooping is something you do outside...
and if hes afraid of the grass, just take him out for a 4-hour pic nic on grass and eventually he will have to get used to it...
