Is the Mount Mansfield summit the peak above the quad or the gondola? If its the peak above the gondola, is there a better way to go up rather than the skieres left of the gondola building into those snowfields?
yea, were planning to build a kicker up in the snowfields again this year. We hiked the trail to the radio tower above the quad last year but couldnt find any decent routes anywhere. We went up in january and it was mostly wind blown and covered in rime ice. Is there anythign good accesable from this trail?
Well if you're trying to get from the top of the gondola to the chin, then you ski down to the left a little (if youre faciong down) a little being about 15-20ft. and there's a trail, I think its part of the long trial. So hike up that and you'll get to the chin. Do not, I repeat do not climb the Profanity trail.
is that the trail that leads up behind the cliff house restaurant. The one ur talking about is the one ive taken in my last few times, but ive seen people climbing up directly behind the gondola building
Best skiing is definately above the gondi on the chin. Here is a map my freind made that generalizes Mt. Mansfield. I used to go up the quad and come down the other side on teardrop and end up near my house.
wow, thanks alot. How often do people head onto the back side of the mountain like that. Also where do u think the ideal spot for a backcountry kicker would be. Anywhere better or more convenient than the snowfields above the gondola?
