Quebec's 3rd referendum

I don't know why but I feel that Quebec is going to suffer through a 3rd referendum soon. In Quebec, the election of the partie leader and the rememberence of the second referendum is starting to scare me.What scares me even more is that the souvrenist side is stronger than the federalist side.(52%-48%)

The future leader is a crack head. His lead is because he is yough cute (not for me) and he admits taking crack.

I really hope that the referendum never happends again.I also wish that the souvranists wake up and see the real world. I asked once why seperate? the guy simply answered,"I don't know, because the federal gouvernment is ripping us off."

Separatists are fucking morons! I grew up in Quebec and was there for the last referendum. Those people who voted to separate were generally uneducated ignorant fucks who thought that Quebec was getting ripped off by the rest of the country. In truth, Quebec receives alot more money from the govt than it has ever paid out and has more rights than other provinces. If they do decide to separate, that should give us a good reason to build up our army and finally smash those stupid fucks like we shoulda done after they got conquered 100s of years ago. Fuck them

I really doubt Quebec would ever seperate. I hope the majority of the Qubecois are happy being Canadian. But if they did seperate, I dont see how the would have the resources, or the power to spport themselves. Because most of Canada's money comes from the West BC and Alberta (mainly Alberta but BC will be rich someday too.) I dont think the seratists have the same support they had in i think it was 1995?? So chances are they wont be able to follow through.

Quebec needs Canada. I just don't understand why. I getting tired of hearing this moron tell other morons in what to believe. It seems like the Partie Quebecois is pushing for the referendum just to get into history. But for some reason, the seperatists don't listen to common sense.

What really bothers me about the sepratist movement, is that the people that want to seperate think that Quebec is being gipped compared to the rest of Canada, when in actual fact, we're the ones getting all kinds of special treatment.
Yeah, I'm scared that there will be another referendum, and if Quebec were to seperate, I believe that there will be a significant portion of the population that will leave Quebec, it happened in 95, people were fed up with Quebec politics and moved elsewhere in the country.
On the other hand, if there is another referendum, and the No side wins, I believe that the movement for sovereignty will finally come to an end. The 3rd victory for the No side would finally make people realize that there isn't enough support to seperate.
Finally, seperatists should only be granted Sovereignty if they win with a huge majority. If Quebec seperated with a 51% majority, then that leaves 49% of the population pissed off

quebec would be screwed if they left, they would have to pay canada all sorts of money, and then they would need to start up their own currency which would be worth very litte, so if quebec wants whats best for them its to stay with canada.

yeah see thats the problem...WHY do they hate the rest of canada? quebec gets all sorts of shit to keep it happy, langauge laws, and federal $ and all that shit. basically, it seems like the seperatists a) are "not in possesion of all the facts" (i thought id put that delicatly) or b) still have an enormous chip on their shoulder from round bout 1800

Fact is Quebecer arent "angry" against the rest of the Canada. Its just that the rest of canada wont ackowledge that Quebec is different from the rest of the Canada and needs its own status to protect its heritage(language and culture). I like Canada but I dont feel like I'm a part of it...and you guys dont make us feel like you want us to be a part of it so why should we? (But you'll all act like a bunch of hypocrits when the day of a third referendum will come and you'll all say thet you want us to stay just like you did on the last referendum...hahah!). Anyway I dont want to start a debate because we'll never understand each other.

Oh and by the way, english AND french are the official languages of Canada but you guys dont even give a shit and probably cant even say a word or two in french...Quebec is th most pluricultural province in Canada and were proud of it. But you guys cant even sing our canadian anthem in both languages when we still do...and by the way the canadian anthem was written by a FRENCH canadian.

I'm 100% separatist for more than 1 reason. And I'm not an ignorant fool or anything... I really know why I want the quebec to be a country... and by beeing a country quebec would probly keep the same currency and do freetrade with Canada so it wouldn't change anything about the economy or stuff...well it would change but not really much. The thing that is important to understand is that we are different than the rest of Canada and we don't want that a goverment that needs to decide for 7 milions of french people when it's for 23 milions of english too... that doesn't make any sens if we want to keep our culture and diversity... the other thing is that we are fucking fed up of the federal goverment who centralize everything and doN't give a shit about what you think but it,s the same in other province about that, just look at the alberta they have now a separatist party... I think we have way more reason to have 1 than the alberta people...

quebec would only be poorer if they seperated. They get a lot of money from the federal gov. more than the rest of Canada. I live in Ottawa and I would fucking pissed if Quebec seperated. Everytime you cross over you have to go through customs. Hell, I go to quebec like ocne a week or more. What decisions does the federal government make for quebec that have any influence on the culture and heritage of quebec?

Wrong there. We're also one of the most taxed province in Canada. We have to pay for all the services we get from Canada and the institutions that are solely Quebecer. Being seperated would make it a lot easier to manage our own money and only pay for Quebec's services.
Its not only the gouvernment fault, I'd say it has more to be with being surrounded and having to live by 23 millions of english speaking people and progressively losing our language than being the federal government's only fautl.

Thats so not true. I think all of Canada unstands that Quebec is different thats why we agree to so many rediculous laws. And I'm pritty sure the rest of Canada is aware that we have two offical languages, one ofwhichwe could potentially lose. I dont think Quebec realizes how much of an effort the rest of Canada is doing to bridge the gap. So many students across Canada are learning french, because they understand there is allot more to Canada than just english. BC is putting loads of money into their french programs, Alberta has numerious francophone communities, Manitoba has lots of french people in Winnipeg. I dont think Quebec relaizes that the french culture is all over Canada. The government in investing so much money into french, largely for the purpose of unting Canadians.

And right now theres allot more than just french and english people in Canada, theres German, Chinese, Japanese, Punjabi, east indians, native american, africans and the list goes on. I know that Quebec wants to be seen ass different, but they have to realize that all of Canada is different and we are a multicultural country, and a great part of our heritage is french, but theres so much more to it.

And by the way I leant how to sing O Canada in french before i learnt it in english. As well as reading and writing. And Im from BC so what does that have to say about the rest of canada trying to say about us trying to grasp just a bit of Quebecs francophone culture.

We're all aware of that. We know that there are strong french canadian communities all around Canada. You have to realize that our society relied on multicultural too but the more and more people seems to choose englsih as their first language instead of French when immigrating in Quebec which I think is disgusting since we let them be part of our society but ont make the effort to be a part of it. Anyway if you're all aware of everything you say why is it that in this same topic only 2 of you guys didnt say crap against Quebec? Its a nice example of how much you guys really care about us...And yes we would be able to run our own power (were one of the first hydroelectricity producers in the world). It just that it seems like you guys are making us a favor with all your social programs and everything when it souldnt even be like that. Realize that you're part of a small percentage of educated candadians that thinks Quebec plays a nice part in Canada as a whole...

That's what we're all saying. We're real tolerant of english people and I feel their part of Quebec just as much as I am. But why is me that always has to speak english? Why cant THEY make the effort of learning to speak french? Thats how progressively were losing our language.

dude, when i try to speak french to people in quebec, I get snubbed hard core, they lift their nose and then speak english to me. I don't speak that poor french either. After getting that kind of treatement a few times, you speak english. I think everyone needs to be a little more understanding,

I totally agree, ithink Quebec is misunderstood, and the west has to at least make a bit more of an effort. But Quebec has to understand that sure they will lose some of there culture, but thye will gain so much more from others. And Quebec is the only province that even has these cultures like carnival and st. Jean baptiste day (how ever you spell it.) But I think thats part of the beauty of canada, we accept and absorb others cultures to form something new. But its true we have to preserve what we have, but what wrong wrong with gaining more.

what i've noticed is that the french language isn't being lost, but it's being integrated with the english language. a ton of my friends are perfectly bilingual, and when we talk its constantly back and forth between french and english and frenglish.

I love Quebec, it's been my home my entire life, and as much as i'd love to have the mountains out west, I can't imagine living anywhere else. In my opinion, Quebec compliments the rest of Canada perfectly. Keep the culture alive, but lose the sovereignty idea.

you know a referendum would be good for the economy, just think of it, the feds would have a new sponsorship program and maybe we could get some bucks from them to do ski productions here in quebec, we would some home grown skiers to keep it quebecois and bring in some from the rest of the country so it would get bucks from booth sides. just think of the mega production we could do and sell it around the world.
as for the referendum its self quebec alone or with canada can survive one way or another, i am proud to be a quebecer and also a canadian, but i hate politics in the first place and would not want to be part on any violent things to happen because people want a free quebec or to be part of canada. Personally i am happy any way it will go, but think that it ridiculous to spend millions of our dollars to have a decision on a free quebec with its own army ???

I will harm the economy of Quebec. Already that we have the 2nd largest debt in Canada, Quebec will be plunged into a depression.The last referendum made us lose more money than gained. Now that we have a little surplus, the PQ wants to spend it for nothing.

Its true that we have more freedom of laws than the other Provinces.Why all this Quebec libre crap, WE ARE ALREADY FREE ENOUGH!

Well if you look at history (like take Europe), countries that have had their independance only suffered minor fluctuations of their economy (it plays around 1-2% depression). So I really doubt it would be as bad as you say...but again no one really knows what would happen.

I may be a bit biased, but other than preserving thefrench culture, being differnet than the rest of canada, I dont see any befits to seperating. Its not like were that differnt,and there hasnt been any violence between the english and french in so long. Other than feeling misunderstood, what are some of the reason for wanting to be independant??

I've seen countless fights, big ones, with 10 or more people, between Francophones and Anglophones, for the sole reason that on one side or another shit was started for making some stupid comment about the other being a stupid fucking english, or a god damn pepper.
As much as we'd like to think, there is still some friction between english and french.

The independent European countries have valuable trade ressorces that kept them alive. What does Quebec have to offer:electricity, minerals and Aluminum. They believe that they can live with lower taxes and off these ressorces.

Also, the 1995 referendum turned out to be a quasi civil war. If another referendum is declared, I can only imagine how bad the fighting will be.
