i just want to be in truckee/tahoe area (dont matter where as long as skiing is within 45 mins.) for jan feb and march. Me and my girl coming, anyone know of some month to month leases?
reno is about 45 mins away and you could definately find month to month rent very easily. I know a few place right off the top of my head that are for rent.
yikes thats a lot of driving. Tahoe is so effin hard to plan ahead for, where to live, which passes to get, etc......
Last year i moved to co and it was easy to plan, all the resorts are close and the pass works everywhere in summit. But they dont get any damn snow and the natural terrain was disappointing.
pretty much you would want to stick to northshore if you lived in reno..(squaw, Alpine, Boreal, Northstar..ect) Southshore would be over an hour. Mammoth and june would be about 2.5. I'm sure you could find a place in tahoe for month to month, it would just be harder and might cost more. Maybe try Reno first and then as you get to know the area find a place that better suites your needs. By the way which passes do you have or are getting. That makes a huge difference unless you have unlimited funds.
Jex, he just said he's going to have a pass to Sierra, Kirkwood, Northstar, and Boreal. If you didn't want to drive that much why did you get so many passes on the opposite sides of the lake? (I realize N* and Sierra are together) Your best bet is to live in South or West Shore so you can be between your mountains. Living in Reno would suck if you want to ride the south shore resorts. Good luck with your searching.
well those passes were just a thought because of this....northstar and tahoe are 309, kirkwood midweek is 199, and boreal nights was 99.....i havent ordered them quite yet but was going to soon.
I dont really need all that variety, I just want one or two decent parks to hit and one place with some good terrain. I figured northstar/sierra/boreal for park cause its cheap but i heard their natural terrain sucks.....so i was thinking kirkwood for terrain.
Alpine would probably give me the best of both worlds for park and terrain but there pass is now up to 899 for adults, and squaw is 1600.
Im genuinely open to suggestions, and I have a place to stay in reno for two weeks free, and then I can move anywhere south or north shore....whatever works best.
Thanks guys, now if it would only snow out there huH?
hah booya dave....learn to read before you second gues my advice. Thos were his thoughts on pass and I was just putting it into perseptive if he were to live in Reno where rent is cheaper and easier to find than anywhere else. Clearly where he gets pass and his budget will ultimately dictate his living expenses.
Anyway I think you might be too late for alot of the cheap pass deals. Most of them expire at the end of the month. If you are partivularly interested in a certain mountain I would maybe suggest getting a job there and working once a week to get a free pass. Good luck man I would jump on any pass deals before they expire.
Alpine is sick. Cliffs, chutes, and open boundries. For terrain your choices are Kirkwood, Squaw, or Alpine. For me, I would calculate the milage and see how much gas it would cost you then compare it to the pass prices.
yeah I would agree with dave. People compare Alpine to Kirkwood. you could consider Norstar for park too, but it's really crowed there and sometimes the park is poorly maintained. I would reccomend boreal for park due to the great investments. And if you have tons of money look at Squaw. If not just get Alpine and I promise you wont regret it, it's right next to Squaw.
Look at the video in lenzners profile to get an idea of what Alpines park looked like last year. I think theres a few big mountain shots too.
