yeah its not gonna pass and even if it does state law still makes it illegal so cops can still arrest you so basically even if it passes its pointless except for the hope that someday itll become state law but thats gonna be a long time if it ever does happen so dont get too happy

with all those bad facts about alcahol in that site above people are going start to lobby about alcahol. now im all for pot being legalized but why cant people stop comparing it. its still a drug that will kill you over time, it does not matter if other stuffs more harmful.

Just to clarify- The vote is to legalize weed in the city of Denver. Even if it passes, it would have to also pass in the state, and even if that passes it wouldn't be upheld because it would be in violation of federal law. Pretty much all it would do is get the word out and maybe spark a movement at best.

ok first off if it passes then it is legal by state law its federal law that would still make it illegal. that means that state cops and sherifs and town cops cant do a damn thing only federal agents could do anything.

because if it becomes legal according to state law then only the feds can fuck you and the chances of the feds busting someone for a little tiny sack are like 1 in 800000

if they made weed leagle and alchol (made it leagle for everyone to drink no matter what age) i honestly belive they would both be used alot less, because the only reason i tryed both of those things to start with was because it was illeagle and then i found out how much fun it is...also they may just as well make both things leagle to everyone because theres no way they can control it......
peace

First off its "legal" not leagle. Second off, it's usage would definatley go up. THere is no doubt about it. The government could make a lot of money on it though if they knew how to play their cards.

thats not right buddy, it would be a denver city ordanence meaning only legal in the city of denver, not legal by state law at all

its only for under 1 ounce of weed, if you have more than that then its bad news, and they said on the news that it really doesn't make a difference if they even vote on it, because medical and kids who have less than an ounce usually dont' get charges pressed, they just get it confiscated and a small fine or some shit like taht

Colorado law fines you $100 for under an ounce of marijuana and is pretty much like a parking ticket. Check norml.org for drug laws for you state. I think it is a pretty fair law, besides if you have more than an ounce your usually dealin'

ok, first off if the city council passes this it will not be made into a las seeing how the only real power the city has is over zoning, it is most likely an initiative that if passed by the citizens of denver will move on to a statewide ballot, after that it will go and be passed by all of the stated districts (somewhat like electoral college) and then if they pass it (99.999999% likely) it will be legal in denver at which point in time the fes will stop all funding for roads and utilities and whatnot, then the state supreme court will find some old case that set precedent over controlled substances and basically bend over and take it in the ass from the fes. and thats a best case scenario, your buds will be legal for about a month.

they can do anything they want but then the feds will cut off funding meaning the state would go dead fucking broke, learn some things about intranational law and business. also taking a few govt/democracy courses should help you out.

Indeed they can...but the feds can take away as much funding as they want. The drinking age is a state law, but the federal government said any state with a drinking age lower than 21 will lose highway funding, and so all the states ended up changing. Plus, with things like controlled substances, it is mostly federal laws that regulate.

you're wrong. I know first hand. It's way worse than that and you lose financial aid.

^ so very true, but a good point was brought up, the drinking age, lousiana's drinking age was at one point 16 but the govt cut off road funding which then forced the state to put it back to 21.

ya i'm from WI and our Drinking age was 18 but they cut off our highway funds so we had to change

^ yea 21 doesn't make any sense to me. personally i think it should be 18 and GRADUATED from high school. if you don't graduate - you don't get liquor. maybe we could stop all the drop out fuckups? just an idea.

9 news or some such was reporting that I100 (the marijuana initiative) was passing but it was very close....53% for it and 47% against it with something like 97% of precincts reporting. So, it sounds like it's going to pass, but it doesnt really matter anyway i guess since federal law will still prohibit this.

^ that is the worst idea ever and goes agains a majority of your rights, i think that there shouldnt be a drinking age because if you make a choice to drink your going to do it anyway,, but i also have a lot of other views on that and am too lazy to type them right now.

very excited about this passing but, it won't change anything, the cops already just give you a $100 ticket for under an ounce. this will only send a message to people that it is time for a change, but as long as we have republicans in office it will be a losing battle. but it is a nice step forward.
