Stickers on skis are for try-hards

as i said in the other thread related to stickers, stickers on skis should be left for sponsored guys to rep the guys who sponsor them. This is the case in surfing...blokes put the stickers of their sponnos on their boards so when theyre photographed for magazines etc, their sponsors get some advertising. It's kind of like exclusivety, and for me, i rekon this system would work well in skiing too. it's also kinda like an honour, give these fellas something extra that they've earnt. i can tell i'm gonna get drilled for this but i want to see if anyone else out there agrees...

I don't see the need to hate on people who put stickers on their skis. And you say when you have stickers on your skis it doesn't promote companies at all...because everyone already knows everything about every companyh...now I can say this from personal experience, that you are wrong. People see stickers on skis and get interested in the product thus by researching. This is how I heard of
Faction Skis. I'm also sure that not 100% of skiers use ns.com...if I didn't go on newschoolers, I wouldn't know a tenth of the stuff I do about skiing.

yeh they made you find out about a young and small company i guess, which is alright. shits me though these people who say theyre getting the companys out there when what theyr really doing is putting some sticker on their skis of some huge company that everyone knows and claiming theyre getting the name out, when what theyre really doing it for is because they think it looks cool because some other tosser has done it.

You guys are looking way to into this. Just do what you want. If you want stickers on your skis and helmets and poles and whatever else you want to think them to, awesome, if not, awesome. Personally, I do put stickers on my skis but I don't but stickers of other ski manufacturers on my skis. I have madtix, I love em and feel that it in a way disrespects the company whose product I use if I were to put an Armada sticker on there.

You're the one acting like it's middle school. It's one thing to hate on soemones clear opinion. But is it okay for him to hate on the actions of others first? Aussiejibber threw the first snowball by calling anyone who has a sticker on their skis a "tryhard," whatever the fuck that is anyways.
But hey, I stand by the fact that we just need to do away with all logos. Unless you'r sponsored, you can wear nothing but plain colors, no graphics, no names, no logos, and no stickers. I mean, really, you don't want people thinking you are sponsored when you aren't. Only the elite should be granted the luxary of wearing logos and names. And if you see someone whose not sponsored make sure you call the skiing police so they can arrest that man, because doing whatever you want when it bears no impact on others, is a crime nowadays.

what it comes down too is people like to rep their favorite companies by putting stickers on their skis. And people are not going to quit. Deal with it
Personally, I could never cover my Seth Vicious' graphics with stickers.

Man that is such a great idea aussiejibber!!! Why don't you write to the companies and see what they say if you are so concerned about what people put on their skis?? I'm sure they'll take keenly to your idea, mate.

Lets judge people by how they ski, not wether they have stickers or not. I guess a lot of bad skiers put stickers on their shit to look cool though. I have some stickers on my stuff cause my friend is sponsored,so i advertise for him. but ppl who don't have a good reason for having stickers shouldn't...

See, your first mistake was to try to apply some surfing rule to skiing. Skiing doesn't have the same bullshit "code" as surfing. You don't go to a park away from your home mountain and hear "locals only" or "you can't ride this pipe until you earn it" or "you can't have stickers on your skis."
Stickers do help out companies, too. Why else would they use the resources to produce them? Even the big companies that everyone knows can benefit...if a kid sees 100 guys with Oakley stickers and only 10 with Obermeyer, he's going to think Oakley is the cool brand.
In the end, though, who even gives a fuck? We are talking about *stickers* on *skis.* Are you honestly going to go up to a guy in the park and say "hey, dude, you can't have those stickers on your skis man, you're not sponsored. Take them off."

i have a marker sticker on my ar5s. on it it says:"skiing saved my day", and next to it is a small marker logo. i dont have markers on my skis, and i dont plan on buying some and overall i dont like markers alot, but this stickers express what skiing means for me and if sum company puts out a sticker like that, i am pretty sure that they want everyone to put it everywhere.
to put a sticker on a ski is a expression what skiing means to people and that there is a company that is involved in skiing putting out stickers, not straight ad-making or exclusive for pros.
i mean, if a company wants what the author of this thread wants, they could put out a few remindable stickers just to their riders, but by putting them out freely, they loose control what anybody is doing with them and so i dont see a point in that thread.

and what you said about the effect when you see a companys sticker on another ski, in my opinion you dont get the sense of marketing.
why do companies invest millions of dollars to make TV advertisements if noone cares?
why do you think companies put out stickers?
come on think at first before you write.
