Well basically I got my ass kicked by that place. This is a long story but I feel like telling it. I got there on Nov 5. I have two friends out there that both said I could stay with them before I left from Red Deer AB. As I rolled into town my car started dying. Phoned both friends and both said that there was already two many people living there so I couldnt stay with either of them. So I went to the Southside Lodge. Then I found out that I didnt get a job with hill on the same day my wallet went mysteriously missing. The bank was being gay and said they couldnt help. So i got my mom to send a new bank card and ID. Just so happens that it was on the mail truck in Vancouver that got stolen, along with a lot of the mail. So she sent it again. Two weeks later I finally had money. I was able to eat again.
As you may know Whistler is an extremely hard place to find a place. Not once, but three times, did I get really close to getting a room for half decent price (600 or under.) Everytime, it was decided that a friend would get the place instead. Then on last wednesday I found something, so I thought. A shared room for 600 a mo. I then told him I had a car and was going to park it for the winter. For some reason he didnt like the fact that it was dying and said it would cause problems, so he basically said phone again later. It was gone later (the room.) Add some of this to some of the other small stupid things that kept seem to be happening, I was getting really tired of Whistler. So on Thursday I decided to go home. Oops looks like my car wont start. Got it towed to a place and they said I had a faulty head gasket (800-1200 dollar repair.)
My car isnt worth that much so I didnt want to fix it, but nor could I take the bus as I had to much stuff.
On saturday I decided to drive it home anyway, and for the first time since I got to Whistler i has some luck and my car made it to Calgary. I dont think its actually what that guy said.
I know this seems like a lot of whining, and an oh my life sucks rant, but I went to whistler, never wanting anything so bad (as to live there), and got worked. Lost easily about 1200. Wasted over a month of time and energy, and still had to leave the place.
oh no!! that's awefull!! I hate hearing stories about that... 63% of ppl living up in staff didnt' get jobs. The whole hiring process seemed kinda bull. I got my job w/ the mountain back in September, and i found a place ot live, within the first month of living there i got evicted, now i live up in staff. We've got 2 warnings already... so eviction is near. haha
I was up there for a week too, cause the guys that I stayed at the hostel with ended up getting jobs. I think it was the icemantle building. That would suck to get evicted. Just like all the Eagles nest chalet people- so I hear.
there was no snow, so there were no jobs...so no one had money so everyone left...there are alot more jobs then places to stay, so that is why people can;t stay, as you herd in his story. i am sorry that you didn't find a place to live sim. it is tough i know. i have a place but no job, well at leased no job until now. i have been here over a month and just got one now. take care.
