I can get a used reactor 10 for 100 or a new p10 for 125. Which is better? I got line chronics. I ski in MI so mostly groomed, little park. Please help.
How hard to you ski?
- like are we talking jumps 50+ feet or hard BC riding.
What kind of skis do you have?
As long as you don't ride very hard and have line skis, I would personally recommend the reactors. Cause if you have to get the freedom plate you'll be kicking yourself in the ass. They're heavy enough. I ride Rossi Axial 120's (Look p12's) and I love them. Like the other dude said the reactors might be "safer" but they can't take a lot of abuse. Oh yeah and if you get the reactors make sure a shop mounts them and sets them up, people get better results than when they just screw them on and set them (i'm not a techie so i couldn't tell you the exact reason, but someone on here could).
The lifter is a plate plaed under the bindinf to lift it up. It makes it so the bindings are a few mm higher on the ski. Theres debate about whether the lifters affect park skiing or not. But the real reason they're put on your skis is more for turning. I had the shop mount mine without the lifers though. They just use shorter screws.
The p10 lifter has a small plastic piece under each binding component to raise you higher above the ski. This helps to give you more leverage when you're carving. For example, if to make a certain turn w/o lifters you need a 15 degree lean in your legs (from straight up and down), with lifters you would need less lean (like 10 degrees.) BUT, and this is a big BUT, lifters suck for park skiing. They make you less stable on landings and rails because you are sitting higher above the ground. It's a lesser version of comparing walking with walking on stilts. Go with whatever is cheaper because the lifters can be removed, making the binding a regular p10.
You'll regret it. They are like mounting bricks on your skis. They are so heavy. Plus, because Line has their interchangable binding thing, the Reactors sit up like 20mm anyway. It's like they have lifters. They suck.
The weight is underfoot so the only place you will notice it is in the parking lot. So unless you are a pussy stick with the Reactor. Line skis are "compatable" with other bindings, but you really should get Reactors if you can.
That's not true at all. Though it will only affect swing weight minimally, the overall weight of your skis/bindings is very noticeable. I went from shitty old Marker 8.2s to Marker TIs and felt an incredible difference.
If you see what he wrote he skis more on groomers than in the park, so weight is not a really big issue. I'd stick with the Reactor just because I like to keep it all one brand... that's just me though.
Why would you do that? Using only one brand limits your performance. Every brand makes their stuff to work with other brands; nothing is propietary. There's not advantage to sticking with one brand.
i am a look fan...but to be fair, I have no idea where this idea started that the line bindings are SOO heavy. In reality, they are not actually that much heavier than other binding systems, so dont let that be your deciding factor.
the guy at my dealer said the reactors are crappy bindings... tons of people on this site complain about them. I got the p12 jib and those are wicked sick so get the p10s
go for the looks. I myself didnt have a lot of problems with my reactors (except for some prereleasing) but I know of two other people that broke theirs. and theyre pretty heavy too
