Lots more freestyle and big mountain skiing now. Watched it tonight and found it a bit better than previous Warren Miller fliks.
Abma, Plake, Backstrom, Olenick, Seth, Burke... just a few of the skiiers featured. Wayne Wong is in there too.
Check it out and pick up some swag while you're at it.

I paid 25$ to see this piece of shit. It is, without question, the worst ski movie I have ever seen. Why?
1)The entire film is one giant commercial. I swear if I heard about the soul of Aspen, or how comfortable the new Jeep Army truck thing is, or saw anymore clips of nature valley bars, I would have walked out. I'd say it is just an advertisment with a bit of skiing.
2) The editing and filming is horrible. The filming is WAY too close. You can't even see the complete body of the rider half the time, and they never show the in-run or out-run of the tricks or lines. Its all edited into a jumbled mess and put to cheesey music to at least try and capture the attention of the spider wearing 40 year olds in the crowd who don't give, and never will give, 2 shits about freeskiing anyway
3) The music is a mix between top 40 poprock and nature soul music. The song with the cooing crow is straight annoying. I swear you could play the soundtrack on a radio station like 97Kiss.fm
4)It seems like, not just the cheesey commentary, but the actual comments of the pro-riders is entirely scripted. They all sound like they are acting it out, and saying things that had to be approved by chrysler and the other lame sponsors, before it could be put in the film. And then when it got to Jeremy Bloom, you'd swear it was like one of those conferences for Middle aged men who have had a mid-life crisis and are trying to get there confidence back. Oh wait... maybe thats what it actually was
So if you are really looking for a way to waste your money.. go see higher ground...I'm betting its on par with BCREW, ready strap blade.

go to the premier, and yell and clap really loudly during the freestyle parts. that should piss the old people off.

Music did suck and u saw a nature valley bar every 2 minutes being eaten by the skiers. Higher Ground was a letdown when u compare it with Impact.

What did you expect? You don´t go to a Crosby Stills and Nash concert to hear emo punk. Much the same as you can´t go to a Warren Miller movie to hear good music, shots of inruns, or commercial free footage.

not really true......warren miller films are actually quite good in general. but as for this one: wtf!? WM is my boy, but this movie was a disaster! ive already explained all the small things i couldnt stand, so i wont do that again, but i will say that i was utterly dissappointed.
one other thing that no one is talking about. im not too sure, but i would bet quite a bit of $$$ that every line that warren actually voices over has been borrowed from past yrs. i know that at least 50% were ne way. whats up with that? i need some confirmation on that one...

I saw it last night i thought it was pretty good, not much park but thats normal for the warren miller film. plus you get a free lift ticket for going so the high price really sn't that bad....even though i have no use for a lift ticket to copper b/c i have the season pass, but good for freinds

I just saw it too. I have been watchign WM from the 80's so i'm a big fan. but this one was f-ing ridiculous. The advertisement was so blatant that it made me sick of the companies. and on the way out, the stupid bitch wouldnt give me an extra nature valley bar, even tho she had a barrel full.

I go to the show every year in Portland. It's one of the few shows that Warren actually attends and it's more about the experience. The Arelene Schnitzer Concert hall is amazing.
But you fuckers who like to tear these films apart every year have to realize that if it wasn't for Warren, companies like PBP may not be around right now. Warren Miller pioneered the ski film industry. So show some respect. I understand that the films aren't as good or original as they used to be. But complaining about em' doesn't make em' any better.

Bullshit. You would still have skiing videos I dont see how you couldnt think that....
But anyway, what was the deal with cold fusion? Was that just a horrible movie or what? I appreciate warren miller movies for what they are, I have all the ones from the 90's practically. And I havent seen any of his movies within the last 4 years so I borrowed cold fusion from a friend to watch. And it was the worst god damn movie ever, didnt even seem like a warren movie.

Oooooooooo, I love Nature Valley bars, I can't wait to go. To the guy who said the movie is one big commercial, shit son, what do you think all of our ski movies are? Hahahahaha. Warren Miller just might be a bit more blatent.
As much as you might hate what Warren Miller is about, you have to realize that as of right now, the people that flock en masse to those showings are the ones that keep this industry afloat. We all know our segemnt doesn't have the numbers JUST yet, as we grow older, this will all change.

Well put^^^^^. A fellow T basin rider that knows his stuff. Whats up schmies? U would prolly dont really know me, but im sure you would reconize me at tyrol if you saw me. Plus we ran into you at Whistler a couple years ago with david lesh and company.
Anywho. on warren miller. If he didnt start skiing flicks. Companys like PBP might be around but the quality of the films wouldnt be as good. Warren miller pioneered the ski film industry and he deserves credit.

you guys need to chill out and widen your borders. Warren isnt so much about the freestyle skiing but more so the body of skiing. where it came from where its going and places people do it. IF you want some good park riding pick Teddy Bear but this show isnt about the park, its about the culture of skiing and the locations.
just chill.

Please bitch, read what some of the more educated, more involved folks on the site are saying. Schmies is no punk and he isn't a dumbfuck either.
Pay attention to your elders. After all, Warren is one them. Knocking Warren would be like knocking J Lev for starting Line.

i just saw yesterday and it was alright, warren miller is purely entertainment, nothing more. the music wasn't great though and it's just the same places over and over with the same people. it was kinda funny how warren miller didn't say more than 10 words the entire movie. the one thing that i did kinda like was the klaus obermeyer and the rest of the obermeyer freestyle team. you'll get why when you see it

Yeah, but honestly, the film is really only about 1/4 of the reason I see the film. Great deal (on passes) chillin with fellow skiers and getting totally pumped the season. For me it's all about the event, not so much the film. I wouldn't buy the DVD...

its just that WM throws a different style of movie than every other production houses... I agree to say that the movies are filled with publicity hints and shits like that... but in the end the movies are always about the passsion of skiing. I mean just check the guys who ski in those flicks, theyre fuckin pure hearted skiers...
Warren Miller has done a great lot for exposing our sport to the public, we should be grateful
