Why arent ski DVDs widescreen?

I understand that things like bootercrunk and safety meeting are shot in 4:3 digital, but i just got my copy of Teddybear crisis (which was shot entirely in super16 and 35mm, from what i hear) and it was "fullscreen." The 4:3 looks good on 4:3 TVs, but a widescreen version would look good on computer screens and WS TVs, and it would be more future proof (a 480p WS DVD looks damned good on my 52" 720p HDTV). Next year there will be the possibility of distributing in HD-DVD and Blu-Ray. Are there going to be any changes? I would pay good money to get an HD widescreen copy of teddybear crisis.
Thanks

I'm guessing because 16mm anamorphic is a pain in the ass to shoot with and AFAIK the lenses are pretty expensive

i dont think widescreen would look good in a ski movie. Peroid. It would ruin the movie. These movies arent like the movies you rent at the video store, theyre cooler

i fully agree...especially since shooting in 16:9 fits more into the screen and allows for shots to be framed up better. Broadcast production is switching over to widescreen more and more all the time. I'm doing all my work in 16:9 now for direct to DVD projects.

SH6 was 16:9. I think War was, not positive.

It looks pretty dope. My TV that I have is pretty wide. Its so wrad, for already dope films, because it makes all the riders look really short and compact. Its a chill thing to watch.

like someone else said, S6 was shot native 16x9, not matted out like previous Level 1 flicks, and some of the other current releases. Yay Sony.

white shine and shanghai 6 are both 16:9, its real easy to make it so in final cut and u can shoot it 16:9 right on the cameras now
All times are Eastern (-5)
