You people need to open your minds. It is something different that people do, and the amount of dedication and work it takes is ridiculous. It is also limited by your budget, as well as if you can cook for yourself apart from everyone else almost all the time. It has health benifits: Vegans are 57% less likely to get heart disease than normal carnivores. Myself, I am only a vegetarian, but i still eat dairy and eggs. This may be contradictory, but it is not important. The fact is, vegans are hardcore and deserve respect.
if humans weren't meant to eat meat, we would have been created in such a way that meat couldn't be processed. meat is a healthy part of our diet, so suck my junk.
all that shit is retarded. if you were raised in some hippie commune and you will physically get sick if you eat meat cause you never have before, then ok. or if you are some sort of crazy buddhist or taoist or something and your religion says you can't eat meat, then cool. but if you are some art student desperately trying to be profound, then fuck you!
uhh, what if you just don't see the necessity of living your life with unjust cruelty involved? What if you feel that killing animals when you don't need to is morally wrong? What if you are actually somewhat intelligent and realize that vegans can obtain enough protein without resorting to eating animal products?
what if i am intelligent, and know that vegans can obtain sufficient protein amounts through alternative foods? its retarded when people say "unjust cruelty". its not like its your fucking mother they are slaughtering to make a thick juicy new york strip, its a fucking cow. that's the very reason we have them. do you think that cows would even be around today if it wasn't for people eating them? they can thank us for their few years of life because humans domesticated an ancestor of common cattle thousands of years ago, for that purpose, to be eaten. what would we do with the millions of heads of cattle if everyone just decided it was cruel to eat them? they would all just die anyways because farmers wouldn't be able to afford to feed them. so in your horribly misconstrued kindness, you have infact started the ball rolling in the eventual extermination of all cattle, as well as all other animals bred for consumption. well done, you all around good doer!
Hey now, I just said that I as an individual am not into eating dead animal carcass. I in no way insisted that this is the only way for people to live, and in no way intended for that to be the outcome of my comment. You can live your life, I can live mine. But for you to judge me because of how I feel about the way I choose to live my life is bullshit.
the persons endever to not eat meat is not gonna save one cow... its pointless from that aspect.... BUT i understand..not likeing it, or religious reasons... but i also must admit watch those peda videos and stuff... it will make you think twice... but on the second thought you will be enjoying a delicious cheeseburger that was made from a slayed cow.
haha theres thie vegan chick in my art class so today i had art and right before lunch i whipped out last nights rare steak and she went into the biggest production about how i am so disgusting and morally wront for eating that...well i enjoyed my lunch and she got laughed at by like 25 kids. haha
i eat vegetarian. It's cheaper, i don't get sick as often, when i do i beat it down twice as fast as the people around me. I have way more energy as a vegetarian then i did when meat took up half my plate.
I don't think eating meat is wrong, like tool said, 'life feeds on life' it's the way it works. I do however, feel it's not necessary to eat as much meat as we do. Over consumption is the problem i have. Using cattle as the example, it requires a huge amount of resource to produce pound of beef. Grazing lands and land to grow feed eats up the countryside. Pesticide use and the fencing that block animal corridors is also a problem. I've heard (unconfirmed) numbers as high as 100lbs of feed to produce 1lb of beef. With expanding population comes a need for expanded food production (followed by ever expanding population...read ishmael by daniel quinn), and meat just isn't good use of the land available.
So 2 years ago i took myself out...i don't eat meat and it compensates for people who eat too much. I'm healthier now then i've ever been. Though i eat meat in the backcountry because it's hard to get the weight to calorie ratios of landjager and such with veggies.
kudos to those that can be vegan...i couldn't do it. You need to basically make everything from scratch, or have lots of money to shop at specialty shops.
I am vegaterian, and I dont like to push my views onto anyone else, but I have alot of respect for vegans. I also have alot of respect for people that hunt their own meat and eat organic meat, it is much healther and the animals on organic farms for the most part are treated much better.
Alot of people dont realize the enviromental affects of eating meat, one pound of hamburger requires 2,500 gallons of water to produce which could grow 50 pounds of fruits and vegies. It takes 12 pounds of grain (8 loafs of bread or 24 plates of spaghetti) to produce 1 pound of hamburger. 1 pound of beef that comes from the rainforest destroys about 660 pounds of living matter which includes 20-30 plant species and over 100 insect species, and many reptiles, birds, and even mammals.
I am not saying it is wrong to eat meat, I just think there should be some respect for those who choose not to.
are you joking? other than getting cancer (and beating it) i never get sick, and when i do, i beat it faster than most people even with a fucked immune system from chemotherapy. sorry, it wasn't the lack of meat that made you more healthy. we're made to eat it. if we were made to eat it, then why would we get sick more? unless you suck at cooking.
I just really hate having to guess what food in my dorms cafeteria isn't gonna make me barf cause it's 100% soy.
And why not eat honey? It's not like it hurts the bees at all. Bees make honey whether or not they're in a real bee hive or a man made one.
no i'm not joking, i don't get sick as often as i used to. And the point was not whether or not we're made to eat it, the point was eating healthier is better for you. ie no mcblt's, and not filling a plate with high cholesterol foods, instead filling it with high fiber and vitamin loaded fruit and veg.
I in no way suggested that eating meat will make you sick.
^then you not getting sick isn't a result of you being a vegitarian, its a result of you eating more healthily. sure if you eat mcdonalds every day, you aren't gonna be in the greatest of health. eating meat has no correlation with your immune system.
ewll actually it is not possible to be a true vegan. If you were a true vegan you would die, your body needs certain things, they do take supplements to make up for their lack of meats but some vitamins you need to live have only one source, and that is meat. some vegans were surviving without and supplements and this made people wonder, until they realized that there were insects in their crops, and that actually is what kept them alive.
It's easy to eat healthy and eat meat. Every Vegan I have ever met has royally pissed me off with their stupid accusations and extremeist veiws. So I was at a party and this fat girl (vegan) and skinny [ethiopian style] guy (vegan boyfriend) were trying to tell me how unhealthy I was and that I was gonna die of heart disease when I am 40 because I eat meat. I excersize twice a day usually one of those includes weight training. I am 5'10 165 lbs very low body fat. I cook all my food from scratch, I dont eat any processed foods aside from my organic chicken which is minimally processed and I also eat canned tuna. These two unhealthy looking jerkoffs were telling me how unhealthy I was when I lead a very healthy lifestyle. I hate extremeists of any kind they always come off as pyschoitc close minded morons and these two were no exception. This chick was like obsese and the kid (who was testing my patientence) was so fragile looking I could have punched him in the elbow and knocked him out. It's all about eating a varied and well proportioned diet. Do I feel bad for animals? No, not really. do animals feel bad for me when my life is sucking or someone is after me? The truth is animals like cows are easy prey out in the wild and live much easier and probably longer lives in captivity protected by their owners. Vegans supplment their protein mostly by soy which is known to have thyroid and hormonal and cancer implications in high doses. If you dont want to eat meat thats fine, but don't expect anyone to listen to you when you are telling them how they are going to die an early death because of eating meat, when we have canine teeth for god sake. Plus this stupid bitch was smoking a cigarette, I should have punched both of them, definetly by biggest regret this year.
yeah I bought one of those shirts, and one for my dad aswell. My sister become a vegatarian so we stopped talkign to her, she tried it for a while and got really sick so now hes back on the "winning team". Now my mom is a vegatarian I am so disappointed with her :D
i used to be vegan, but now im just vegetarian. animals were not "meant" to be eaten. just becuase humans have superior intelligence to cows, pigs, and chickens, does not mean we have a license to go and kill them. its not like we need to eat meat either. being vegetarian is easy, and its better for you than a meat-heavy diet. so to consume animals is just selfish.
you guys are all stubborn and horribly incompetent. there's no convincing you. fuck it, be lame, be a huge pain in the ass to everyone you hang out with, i don't care. i can't deal with you morons singing about "SAVE THE ANIMALS!" this and "SENSELESSLY KILLING ANIMALS IS WRONG" that. fuck the animals, i am tempted to go drive around in my car and hit every squirrel, raccoon, deer, whatever that crosses my path just to piss you dumb asses off.
Yeah, what the fuck are animals for if we can't eat 'em? We can't have a conversation with them, we can't go out partying with a goat, so eat them, that's all they are good for.
what the fuck? I probably "sing about saving the animals" as much as I sacrifice goats to the devil lucifer... shut the fuck up. Don't act like you're superior to people you don't know because of your individual beliefs. I hope the teeth of one thousand species of endangered animals chew off your ball sack as those you used to call friends watch in sadistic ecstasy, you son of a bitch.
alright, granted that post had an ounce too much anger in it.. but seriously, don't post things just to get a rise out of people. Why? well, a perfect example will likely be the flaming that is about to happen upon my posting of the comment made above.
i am all about saving animals, i just think it is very ignorant for people to not eat meat "because it's cruel". like i said far earlier in this thread, if you have some religious beliefs, or you were raised that way and you phsically can't eat meat, then cool, or if you just think its gross, whatever, just don't give me that bleeding heart shit. you are causing more harm that good by doing things for that reason.
I never said that I don't eat animals because it's cruel to the animals. In fact, I have not posted anything in this thread stating that I am infact a vegetarian.
basically i eat natural meat. being vegan is WAY over the line, its unhealthy and the ehtics are lost on me. i can kinda see where vegetarians come from but i like my beef and broccoli mother fuckers.
The reason I don't eat meat is not because it's cruel to the animal. The reason I don't eat meat, is because I do not see the necessity of killing animals nor do I see any logical reason to refuse a more sustainable lifestyle (vegetarianism), rather than for taste and perhaps good sources of certain components of good nutrition, that can in fact be found elsewhere.
