05-06 PE mounting?

I pose to you all a query of the highest importance and magnitude.

Today my skis came in the mail. They are the new Public Enemy. They smell nice. They look nice. They taste very good. But they don't work.

Why don't they work? Because there are no bindings on them.

I also received in the mail today a pair of Rossignol 100 bindings.

Ergo, I have decided to ask you, the consistently helpful, knowledgeable, understanding, kind community of newschoolers.com... one fatal question?

Where on these new PE's should I mount the bindings?

I have heard suggestions of -2.5 cm (2.5 cm back) from core center, and of +3 cm (3 cm forward) of the mid sole. My original PE's are mounted at +2 cm from the mid sole. I liked it, but there was not enough tail...

Does anybody else have any input? Personal experience? Shop knowledge?

I am looking to ski everywhere... trees, bumps, powder, park, groomers switch at 90+ mph...

mine are at +4 but i've only skied them once so far and that was on a shitty loveland run of death. but they did great regardless.

okay, thanks... i think +3 from midsole sounds best.

but what lengths are everybody's skis?

mine are 179.

how about now? i want enough tail for flying switch and grabbing healthy blunts.

i just got back from taking them to the shop. i could be skiing by sunday, so time is of the essence.

i think they meant -3 from the center mark which would be a +4 from the "traditional" mounting point.

Dude, I have the same skiis and the same bindings. I just got them mounted at 7 (marked on the ski). I read the K2 technical specs manual, and it said that their pros (benchetler, silva ect.) mount them at 6 to 7 1/2. I got them at 7 wich is half a centimeter back from the farthest forward you can mount them. Just think about what you would like to ski and then use the markings on the side that K2 provided. If you can, get a copy of thier technical specs Manual and read the mounting instructions for yourself.

okay. first of all, the pros mount them in different places for different purposes. anywhere from +5 to +7 for all-mountain skiing, and for pure park use +7.5(core center) is the mark of choice. there are exceptions to this. andy mahre mounts his madens at +10 or +11 so they are closer to true center(+12). nobody skis further back than +5. even seth, who never skis backwards, mounts his there because it takes full advantage of the flex and of the sidecut. i don't even know what my point was, i was just mumbling.
