Replying to Ski Size Question HELP!!

Hey dudes

my friend is having trouble deciding on skis to buy for this new year, he's kind of short on cash. He has narrowed it down to 2 different skis he wants, either the scratch fs or the 1260's (both last year's model).

His main problem is the sizing issue, the scratches are 174 and the 1260's are 177, and he's about 5'11. If he got them center mounted, could he make the 1260 work, even though they're 177's? They are lot cheaper than the scratches.
